The result of the move request was: moved. The general consensus is to move per WP:COMMONNAME (closed by non-admin page mover) ❯❯❯ Raydann(Talk) 19:33, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lake McKerrow / Whakatipu WaitaiLake McKerrow – Per WP:COMMONNAME, WP:CONCISE, and MOS:SLASH. Proposed title is overwhelmingly preferred by reliable sources; Google News returns 29 results for the proposed title, compared to 7 results for any form of the current title.

Proposed title is also more concise and better aligned with MOS:SLASH. BilledMammal (talk) 08:57, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support. The slash character should be strongly avoided in titles. From the first version, “Lake McKerrow” came first, which is a very indicator for the better title. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 02:56, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The slash is required by New Zealand-specific naming conventions for dual titles, and its presence is irrelevant for the move discussion. The order of the dual names is for consistency with their order in the official dual name. Some dual names use the former English name first, such as Avon River / Ōtākaro or Franz Josef / Waiau, while others use the Māori name first, such as Whakaari / White Island or Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill.
