I corrected the name of Gilles according to the Encyc. Britt. of 1911. However, I don't know if those old maps call the island 'Giles island' or 'Gilles island'. Soczyczi14:57, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Conway, in his No Man's Land (1906), spells it Giles. With that said, I will be reverting it to "Giles," the correct spelling. Some encycopedia is not a reliable source. Jonas Poole (talk) 02:21, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Kvitøya area is 682 sq.km., but ice cap is 705 sq.km. and several sq.km. not covered. The island shape at different maps in WikiPedia is also inconsistent, but area value correspods to the larger shape. Bogomolov.PL (talk) 07:11, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
