Constant IP Edits

[edit]

References to Mizzi's resignation, expulsion from the Partit Laburista and his appearance on the Panama Papers are publicly known yet they keep getting removed. Deletion of encyclopaedic information on the grounds that they are 'partisan' should be explained better. If anyone wishes to contribute please do so on this section in the talk page.

Minister Without Porftolio

[edit]

Minister Mizzi is cross-refrenced as Minister without Portfolio. References were added to point to this fact. The removal including amendments where the page is sterilised in order to remove this fact are partisan and unacceptable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hekk-u-hekk (talkcontribs) 14:13, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio

[edit]

It is very clear that an editor simply copied some paragraphs from here and there. Even though I reworded some, I still believe it needs further revision.Continentaleurope (talk) 23:55, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

I have removed material from this article that does not comply with our policy on biographies of living persons. Biographical material must always be referenced from reliable sources, especially negative material. Negative material that does not comply with that must be immediately removed. Note that the removal does not imply that the information is either true or false.

Please do not reinsert this material unless you can provide reliable citations, and can ensure it is written pursuant to WP:V, WP:NPOV, and WP:NOR. Please review the relevant policies before editing in this regard. Editors should note that failure to follow this policy may result in the removal of editing privileges.

Although I have removed some material that was not relevant to a BLP, this article previously contained the following text (not written or removed by me) which clearly did not follow Wikipedia style and guidelines:

Konrad is commonly criticised in Malta and in the international sphere for his corruption allegations that includes the Panama Papers, secretive meetings for energy supply arrangements, defence for the exploitation of Out of Development Zone (ODZ) land in Marsascala for the American Institute of Malta and Gaffarena scandal, local funerary arrangements and the salaries of his family with the government that without corrupt practices alone will make him and his wife millionaires by the end of the present labour legislature.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

However, the sources below (which came with the original text that was removed) clearly demonstrate controversies that merit some sort of mention in this BLP. To ensure NPOV these must also be added somehow. I am not planning to add these myself, but hopefully someone from Wikiproject:Malta or even someone not from the project with appropriate BLP know-how, will look into this, particularly because the subject of this BLP is presently in the news in a number of countries, in connection with the Panama Papers controversy. --ToniSant (talk) 19:04, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the section quoted above (which has since been removed) needs to be entirely re-written in accordance with Wikipedia's BLP guidelines. As things stand, the article contains no reference to any controversies related to Mizzi, which isn't a fair reflection of reality. I'll be working on it in the coming days, but the contributions of others interested in the topic would be very helpful in ensuring neutrality, particularly as the Panama Papers story develops. --Nevborg (talk) 09:35, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a section on the Panama Papers issue, but this still needs further development and refinement, including reference to the no-confidence motion against Mizzi and Schembri presented by Marlene Mizzi, the criticism of the voluntary tax audit not having any jurisdiction in Panama, and the Prime Minister's defence of Mizzi. Anybody willing to continue working on this, please do so --Nevborg (talk) 11:10, 23 April 2016 (UTC)ee[reply]
I worked on this a little. I am try to offload detail from the Panama Papers page. I do see why you removed the text, but it is also sometimes the case that an ugly allegation is simply true and also well-documented, in which case it is NOT a violation of the BLP policy. I am not arguing that all of the above is true in its tiniest connotations. Clearly that editor had an opinion. I am thoroughly sick of the topic just now and am stopping for a while, but I am just saying. There are lotsa RS for the statement about his wife's salary, for example, which according to one source is several times what the ambassador to China is receiving, who would generally be her superior... and this for rather nebulous and mysterious activities on behalf of Malta. There definitely does seem to be a lack of accountability. I am stunningly ignorant of Malta and was driven here by a desperate need to edit the Malta section of the Panama Papers, so perhaps I am missing something. Perhaps the last administration was worse, who knows. I also haven't heard anything about Marsascala or secret meetings, but I've been focused on what was in the papers. Anyway, my point is that the allegation about the wife appears to be quite true and when I come back I will probably add it, with lots of RS of course. The Schembri page actually needs even more help; I worked on that also but apparently it's a pretty common name so quick googling wasn't doing. Please help out over there too if you are familiar with these situations....Thanks Elinruby (talk) 21:35, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Elinruby thanks for your edits on this page. I agree that the controversy related to Mizzi's wife and the allegations about her should be included in this page. I think the violation of BLP in the original text was more in terms of its tone and lack of balance, rather than the content or allegations it mentioned, and that was the main reason behind the edits that I carried out on the section. I have been planning to add a section on the allegations related to Mizzi's wife, but to be honest, I don't feel adequately familiar with the issue to write up the section myself. Perhaps I will create a brief stub on the issue under the Controversies section that can be developed collectively as we go along. I'll also have a look at Schembri's page and do some work there - Nevborg (talk) 10:49, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest contributions?

[edit]

It appears that this article is a frequent target for Conflict of Interest editing. AGFing my way through the contributions, I have attempted to keep an eye on it over the past couple of months since the subject of this BLP become involved in an international controversy known as Panama Papers. I am also trying to contribute constructive edits on it myself to ensure it maintains NPV and BLP guidelines, as much as possible. It seems to me that it need a more experienced hand on BLPs to make it better, but it still provides an interesting challenge for me. --ToniSant (talk) 12:15, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
