Article Problems

[edit]

"Campaigns" Section

[edit]

The links in the 'Campaigns' section are ill-placed, in my opinion. It is misleading to have the entire phrase "Campaign against the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor" link to Pebble Bed Reactor, because the link (Pebble Bed Reactor) isn't really about the linked phrase (Campaign against the P.B.R.). I am going to change the links so that the only the portions actually related to the linked article are part of the link. E.g.: "Campaign against the Pebble bed reactor". Ultimately, it would be good to point the links for the Campaigns to actual pages that discuss the campaign, rather than the pages discussing technology that they oppose, since linking to Hydrogen fuel cell doesn't give a reader any information on how Koeberg Alert thinks that it's an "alternative" to nuclear power (since the fuel cell page makes it clear it's an energy transport medium not a source, etc.) --Kadin2048 16:24, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"1982 Koeberg Event" Section

[edit]

1) I believe these were limpet mines that were placed in the cabling trays and not rocket that were used? 2) Why is this article even here, if the use of violant means is not supported then this piece is misplaced? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oupoot (talkcontribs) 13:48, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why say that "the ANC attacked Koeberg nuclear power plant, by firing SA-7 missiles into the enclosure. It was actually limpet mines, but the Koeberg alert people know better. SA-7 is a surface to air missile." This is meaningless. The attacker used limpet mines. If there was a false report of SA-7's [highly unlikely for the reason given] that should be stated as such.Royalcourtier (talk) 07:33, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article seems to be more about pushing an anti-nuclear agenda than about describing the organisation. 197.79.24.30 (talk) 17:09, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"History of the Koeberg NPP" section

[edit]

Several statements here are both unrelated to Koeberg Alert and unrelated to the Koeberg power station (e.g. the mention of the Vela Incident). The section also seems to be missing quite a few citations, and some sources listed seem to have questionable neutrality (biophile, urbansprout). Scare quotes are used several places (e.g. regarding the Eskom review of the Cobalt-58 contamination). Lengau (talk) 22:38, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Relevance of PBMR's cost

[edit]

Other than attempting to convince the reader that it was a waste of money, what is the relevance of the cost of the pebble bed nuclear reactor? Lengau (talk) 23:47, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Miscelaneous

[edit]

Removed the "citation needed" notice in the opening section. No citation is needed to show the link between Koeberg Alert - a South African anti-nuclear group - and the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station - South Africa's only nuclear power plant.
