First location of Kennedy Company
[edit]As a former employee at Kennedy Company, I was delighted to see a Wikipedia article on what I thought would fly under everyone's radar. Chuck Kennedy took a chance on me in 1964, straight out of college with an EE degree, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity.
My one quibble with the article is:
> In 1963, he founded Kennedy Company in Altadena, California,...
This is not so; Kennedy's first location was at 275 N. Halstead St. in eastern Pasadena. As far as I can tell, it is now the site of a Best Buy. We did not move to Altadena (540 W. Woodbury Rd.) until 1967 or 1968.
Chuck was Chief Engineer and Chief Electrical Engineer. His Vice-President and Chief Mechanical Engineer was George Yewell. Later, Waldemar (Wally) Saeger joined the company as Chief Engineer. Other employees I remember include Lew Gieseke (Chief Draftsman), and techs Vic Radu and Glenn Lilly.
I realize this is first-hand knowledge (aka "original research"), so is not eligible for the Article page. I leave it here in case someone in the future can use it. Lbyler (talk) 21:43, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Lbyler: Thank you so much for the insight! I too have a personal connection to the Kennedy Company, which is what inspired me to write this article. If you have email enabled, I would love to talk about it.
- I will see if I can't scrounge up a source supporting the fact that the the company was founded in Pasadena. (Here's to hoping the Eaton Fire doesn't spread to either building...) DigitalIceAge (talk) 07:21, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
