This was in the original: He may be related to rocket engineer Jesco von Puttkamer. ~ Dpr 04:45, 5 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone tell me in which relationship he stands to Jesco von Puttkamer (the rocket engineer an NASA-planner)?84.181.144.112 22:39, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The wording "captain of a frigate" is erroneusly translated German word "Fregattenkapitän". This is a naval rank in German Navy, corepsonding to the US/GB rank "Commander". Furthermore, "Kapitän zur See" (promoted in 1941) is a higher rank, approx. equal to "captain" (or "Captain at Sea"). Please, correct. Avitek (talk) 08:04, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Preserving here by providing this link. I removed some material -- none of it was cited. Pertaining to Puttkamer's pre-WW2 career, these details are unlikely to be available in secondary RS. Please let me know if there are any concerns. K.e.coffman (talk) 08:10, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously incomplete

[edit]

This article covers only about half of the subject's adult life.

It states that he was imprisoned from 1945 to 1947 (but does not state whether he was charged with any crime), and stops in 1947, when he would be only about 47 years old - nearly 20 years before a normal retirement age.

What did he do in the remaining 34 years of his life? Longitude2 (talk) 10:23, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Baron Puttkamer

[edit]

I tead the story of Baron Puttkamer's misadventures in the Volkstrum in Beevor's book. Are you sure he was this man, or one of his relatives? 2600:1014:B30F:2565:49C5:42EF:76DD:F988 (talk) 19:26, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
