Fact tag

[edit]
  • They divorced in March 2003.{fact}

Why was a "fact" tag added to this assertion? We have a source that says she married once, and a source that she married again. Is anyone disputing that she got divorced in between, or the date? It seems like this was added just because there was a sentence without a citation.   Will Beback  talk  10:17, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion

[edit]

This person is not notable. A search of Google News and Google Books yields only 3-4 minor sources which are all currently listed in the article and EL section. Her only notability is that she ran for office under the banner of a little known third party, received very few votes, lost the race and received little or no press coverage. The subject does not meet the threshold of WP:POLITICIAN which says:

  • Politicians and judges who have held international, national or sub-national (statewide/provincewide) office, and members or former members of a national, state or provincial legislature.[12] This will also apply to those who have been elected but not yet sworn into such offices.
    • Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage.[7]
    • Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article".

In the case of candidates for political office who do not meet this guideline, the general rule is to redirect to an appropriate page covering the election or political office sought in lieu of deletion. Relevant material from the biographical article can be merged into the election or political office page if appropriate.--KeithbobTalk 17:25, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has removed the AfD tag with the following edit summary: "Valid search term, failed candidate can best serve as redirect to United States House of Representatives elections, 2004#Ohio where already appropriately mentioned as United States House of Representatives elections in Ohio, 2004 doesn't exist." I've asked them to come to this page to explain their edit and edit summary and to engage in polite discussion.--KeithbobTalk 14:11, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Non sequitur. Your edit summary says 'add AfD tag', but you Prod'ed it, which is where it was listed, where I found it, what I saw, and which is what I removed; I did not notice the discrepancy then, or I would have brought it to your attention. I stand by my summary. Dru of Id (talk) 15:17, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Dru and thanks for your response and assistance. I am new at the AfD process. I think the starting point for our discussion is that I don't understand your edit summary. Are you saying the article should be deleted and the name re-directed to the US House elections page? which doesn't exist? The subject is already listed here so I'm a bit confused. Thanks for explaining.--KeithbobTalk 18:13, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
