The referencing of this article is very poor. There are multiple references to an untranslated resource which it is impossible for most editors to use for verification. There also appear to be misuses of the "refname" function, with one refname being used to point to different references. I shall do what I can to tidy these up.
I would also point out that large tracts of the article are written in an obscure style, which does not help! DuncanHill (talk) 00:07, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have put the "refimprove" tag back on the article, as the problem with the refname "Nelson" has not been resolved. It is used to refer to two different works by the same author, and it is impossible to work out which instances relate to which works. Frankly it might be best if I removed all the unattributable uses. DuncanHill (talk) 22:59, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Having gone through the edit history of the article I have been able to rescue the references, and assign them to the correct works, so I have removed the refimprove tag again. DuncanHill (talk) 23:23, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The lengthy blockquote from Agobard is not referenced. Also, the purpose of its inclusion does not seem clear. As it stands, it looks like Agobard is calling on Louis to honor his oath to Lothair.
