Controversy section
[edit]I re-edited it again, unprotected it, for now, and included his rape trial into his page. --Stopprop 16:27, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
His nickname is not Joe Table, and no one has ever called him that, it is NOT a nickname besides for the fact a few fans may call him such. Also it is senseless to mention that he bats right handed, since he has not made an at bat this year yet.
The rape & assualt case is part of Jose Mesa and should stay on the page. I will leave the link at the bottom of the page--Stopprop 01:04, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
I have removed the assault & Omar Vizquel parts of the controversy section.
The commented out source[1] for the assault portion did match the claims made here. This needs to be rewritten in a cited NPOV manner.
The part about Omar Vizquel (particularly the threats) is completely unsourced. This needs to be sourced.
Thanks. -- JLaTondre 03:03, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- As an anon editor from a non-static IP continues to reintroduce these claims without sourcing, I have semi-protected the article. Any editor who can properly source these claims is welcome to. However, continued BLP violations will not be tolerated. -- JLaTondre 20:20, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Concerning his nickname(s): I'm not a baseball fanatic but I did watch the Cleveland Indians diligently during the mid 90's because of their success. They called him "Señor Slam" during this time and that's because of his excellent closing record, he would come in and slam the door closed on the game. During that time, I don't recall hearing "Joe Table" but again, I'm not a baseball fan and his career spans far more than the 3 or 4 years that I was watching him. However, I did hear Señor Slam virtually every time he came on the field. The announcers used it and I believe signs were held by fans. I feel this could be added to the article, especially since his closeout success is really the emphasis of his whole career and his mega-failure in the 1997 WS. His age
[edit]The article claims a controversy about Mesa's age only because he was 13 when he had his first son. There are some documents a reporter found, but not a single source on this story let alone the documents. I propose this entry to be deleted.--Seba5618 (talk) 01:02, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
