Stiles didn't lead a brigade at Antietam or South Mountain - Ricketts' three brigade commanders on the field were Hartstuff, Duryee, and Christian. And Stiles didn't take over after any wounds or Christian's nervous breakdown. I don't know where Stiles was at this time, but he wasn't commanding a brigade at Antietam or South Mountain.
