I put the quote back, pending discussion. That quote has been on this page since before October 2004 (which was the date I viewed before I got tired of trying to find when it was added to the article)

I don't see the harm in it being on the page. The Farscape pages don't have to mimic Stargate or StarTrek, so I reverted and now ask what people think about it. Character quote: Yay or nay? -- The preceding unsigned comment was added by Avengers_fan (talk • contribs) .

Actually, as per Manual of Style, all pages should have the same feel and format. Which is why I removed the quote in the first place. Obviously, I don't see the need to put the quote on the page at all, as we can simply provide a link to the general Farscape page on Wikiquote (where all the quotes should go in the first place). I'll refer you to WP:FICT.
Should you disagree, feel free to reply with your reasons. However, we are trying to build a general encyclopedia, and by having a consistent feel to it in terms of layout -- regardless of whether or not its a "Farscape page" or a "Star Trek page" -- it would only aid us in being a resource that should be treated with respect. As far as I'm concerned, having that quote smack dab on the first page smacks as being written by a bunch of fanboys and fangirls, which is horridly unprofessional in my point of view. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 02:43, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe the bold could be replaced with italic, but a well-placed quote, and one such as this utterance by John Crichton is actually very revealing about the character. It think it's a good idea to allow the character to say something about themselves like this! And the quote's been here for years!

Rewrite

[edit]

OK, I know I've done a fairly major rewrite. I hope I haven't upset anyone by losing any information thought valuable in previous versions. I've incorporated and retained everything I thought was important. Please add back in anything I've left out that you think should be there. I have tried to make a far more detailed biography of the character, as well as more detailed character notes. If you like what I have done please let me know and I will try the same level of rewrite with the biographies of the other main characters. There's a lot to put in for a lot of the characters, so please bear in mind that this will take a while. --Stenun 08:20, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well so far no one has said anything; I will take this as positive for now *g*. I note that some additions have been made to the rewrite including mention of Aeryn Sun's death at the end of season 2 and her revival at the start of season 3. I originally left this out because I did not feel it relevant to John Crichton's personal history; this is a page about him not Aeryn or Zhaan. Does anyone else agree with me or am I in the minority here? --Stenun 22:14, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A few comments: The article is a lot better than it was, so thank you for that. Now, on the other hand, I believe there should be a mention about Aeryn's death, mainly because it did affect him. (If it didn't, then it wouldn't be worth mentioning.) Zhaan, on the other hand... I'm not so sure about. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 23:19, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I can see an argument for maybe discussing it in the Personality section, discussing its impact. But I don't see what relevance it has to his personal history. --Stenun 02:28, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
