Long-term vandalism
[edit]Sometimes I think we'd be better off with full protection. The number of malicious edits by socks &c over the last few years dwarfs the number of legitimate edits. bobrayner (talk) 23:24, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- Revert, block, ignore, coupled with more ignoring; full protection is unnecessary. BencherliteTalk 00:34, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

I just wanted to add a 1981 series that I used to watch called ‘breakthrough’ . Only because there is one episode of this excellent series on YouTube do I know that it really did exist!it was such a popular series I’m amazed it’s not in his bio Konigtiger43 (talk) 09:58, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
Skeletal article
[edit]Because there's not a lot to say about John Craven. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.156.204.79 (talk) 21:03, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
His place of birth needs to be corrected. He was born in Leeds (1940) in the West Riding of Yorkshire and NOT "West Yorkshire" or simply "Yorkshire". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.31.250.74 (talk) 23:26, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
The only thing about John Craven is that his on NewsRound helped children understand the news. Of late his kids' TV style presenting is no asset to CountryFile. (Time to give other presenters a chance?) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.20.235.19 (talk) 19:37, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Soppy self-or-fanzine-submitted CV of aged ex UK media presenter
[edit]What a load of soft-soap drivel in the Wikipedia version to July 2014. Minimal corroboration. Just self-or-fanzine stuff. 80.189.199.45 (talk) 04:39, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
- What is meant by ex UK? Has Craven adopted foreign citizenship or become an expat?Cloptonson (talk) 20:47, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
John Craven's Newsround
[edit]This article describes Newsround as:
The first such programme ever produced by British television, it drew on the full journalistic resources of the BBC, and featured a number of news scoops, it being the first news programme of the day on TV in its early years
This is an ambiguous claim. With regard to the phrase "TV in its early years", television news programmes were being aired by BBC before Craven was born! As to "first news programme of the day" I recall watching Newsround as a schoolchild but it was a "tea time" special which seemed aimed at children who had returned home from the school day. More specific reference to what the timing was would be useful, as this was 1970s - pre-breakfast television era - when I watched it. It does not just need a citation but a rewrite to make it read less ambiguously.Cloptonson (talk) 15:27, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Well I read "it being the first news programme of the day on TV in its early years" as referring to Newsround's early years. I'm not sure how true that is, though - certainly by 1976 the BBC had a lunchtime news programme (either at 12.45 or 1 p.m., I can't remember which, but our student TV service used to time its programmes around it). -- Arwel Parry (talk) 18:23, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
