Infobox madness

[edit]

Nobody needs to tell me that this article is 95% infoboxes and 5% article. :-)

Originally, this article and EACH of the separate drinks were stubs. The Mixed Drinks WikiProject considers this page a work in progress, as we continue to come up with creative ways of dealing with pages like this that are neither recipes nor sprawling pages of infoboxes.

Obviously one of the things we will work on is a more compact form of the infobox in horizontal format to take up less space. Also obviously, locating some additional encyclopedic information about the various drinks, and about Mr. Gilmore himself, will be beneficial.

Yes, this article is weak right now, but the notability of the person and the drinks that helped make him so are definitely worth keeping. We just need some time to figure out better ways to present the information. Thanks. --Willscrlt (Talk·Cntrb) 23:57, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

who the #$%^& is Joe Gilmore?

[edit]

and why is Missouri Mule (a legit creature, a for-real MULE of WWI and WWII notability) redirected to a page on some guy named Joe? Please remove the re-direct. Ken (talk) 19:38, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because there is no such animal as a 'Missouri' mule. A mule is a mule, there are no 'regional variations'. So, if you don't know who the originator of the drink is, and how he is VERY famous in the right circles, and if you don't know that a mule doesn't have any 'variations'...you're really not in a position to make any demands.94.255.173.237 (talk) 13:03, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Savoy Royale

Savoy Royale needs a recipe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Philvarner (talkcontribs) February 10, 2007

Prince of Wales?

[edit]

What's with Prince of Wales? It looks very much like the Prince of Wales (cocktail) dating before the birth of Joe Gilmore? 88.195.206.129 (talk) 18:51, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A drink consisting of Lemon Juice, Strawberries, Cherry Brandy and sugar looks like a drink made with Rye, Champagn, Pineapple, Maraschino Liqueur, Angostura and simple syrup? Yeah, ok...maybe you shouldn't drink so many OF those?94.255.173.237 (talk) 13:03, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That section was unsourced after being tagged for a full decade as needing a citation. In a web search, I didn't find it, so I deleted it. — BarrelProof (talk) 19:57, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On the rocks in a cocktail glass?

[edit]

Several of the drinks here are supposedly served on the rocks in a cocktail glass. Is that correct? In many years of heavy drinking I've never seen this, but then I've never been to the American Bar. Kendall-K1 (talk) 04:11, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Lettherebedarklight, Could you please explain why you removed the list of cocktail from this article. Many of these drinks don't have their own articles so they redirect to this page. SaltyCalculator (talk) 02:35, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry I fixed it. Idk maybe it was a mistake but I have no idea how that would happen. If it was intentional then the guy is a douche. 2605:59C8:1528:F710:95DF:BB6D:C2CB:A1BB (talk) 08:30, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
