This page worked much better as a "redirect" Joseph Fielding Smith as before, since she is only notable for being his wife. I have added a {{Multiple issues}} tag. However, I will give this page time to developed, since it was changed yesterday.--ARTEST4ECHO (talk/contribs) 20:21, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jessie Evans was a notable singer with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir before she married Joseph Fielding Smith. Beyond this, the spouses of certain high ranking people gain notability by the relationship. The reason people knew about Jessie Evans Smith may have been closely linked to her being the wife of Joseph Fielding Smith, but people made note of Jessie Evans Smith and her singing.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:37, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would also think that this would work better as a simple redirect. I'm not really seeing any sources that discuss her as a notable singer. We should give it some time, but if it remains in its present form, it's liable to deletion/redirection. Good Ol’factory (talk) 04:44, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Merge The big problem I see (and I think Good Ol’factory also sees it), is notability. You say "The reason people knew about Jessie Evans Smith may have been closely linked to her being the wife of Joseph Fielding Smith, but people made note of Jessie Evans Smith and her singing."
Being a member of the MT choir isn’t enough to establish individual notability. There still isn't anything listed that makes her any more notable then any other member of the choir who don't have pages, unless they have establishes notability on there own in some way. She didn't go on as with a musical carrier. She didn't win any award. As far as I have found isn't a notable singer.
As to her being the wife of JFS, that still isn’t enough either. Just looking at the last 5 wives of the Presidents of the church, they don't have pages.
Even being JFS's wife isn't enough. He married three time and (Louie Emily "Emyla" Shurtliff and Ethel Georgina Reynolds) and they don't have pages. The wives who have pages have them for reason such as a callings to RS presidency, or author of books, or woman’s right activist, etc. They established notability independent of there husbands.
The problem is that even though both are true, nether is enough for her to be "notable" on her own. I'm sorry but Jessie Evans just isn't notable enough on her own to qualify so I'm proposing a merge.--ARTEST4ECHO (talk/contribs) 17:09, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have merged the pages.--ARTEST4ECHO (talk/contribs) 19:43, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
