[edit]Hello. I have replaced the article for a stub I have just made because the previous, as well as a little promotional, was a plagiarism from the official IVU web. Greetings. Akhran (talk) 12:48, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Membership
[edit]Doesn't IVU have individual members, also? If that is correct, current wording is inaccurate? Also, why wasn't the previous article merely rewritten so that content would be documented rather than lost? MaynardClark (talk) 19:52, 9 August 2019 (UTC)
Notable members
[edit]- Some IVU member organizations have their own articles.
- Can this list of notable individual members be expanded?
- Can a list of IVU Presidents be included in this article? MaynardClark (talk) 01:39, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- IVU PRESIDENTS
- Gordon Latto ( - )
- Brian J. Gunn-King ( - )
- Surendra M. Mehta, PhD ( - )
- IVU EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENTS (EVPs)
- Brian J. Gunn-King ( - )
- IVU GENERAL SECRETARIES
- Brian J. Gunn-King ( - )
The relationships 'in the IVU Executive Suite' need to be clarified. MaynardClark (talk) 01:58, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- I have added a list of presidents up until 1999. Psychologist Guy (talk) 23:35, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
No longer advocating vegetarianism
[edit]@Throughthemind: @MaynardClark:, the IVU is no longer advocating vegetarianism as it now strictly supports veganism. I have spoken to IVU and this checks out. Do you think it is worth updating the article to reflect this in the lead? Psychologist Guy (talk) 08:49, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Throughthemind: I think that we could say that the IVU advocates the purest form of vegetarianism, which today is far more easily achievable by ordinary folks and by the willing majority, if they wish to do it (becoming practicing vegans). I suspect that voting membership is still confined to those who are 'vegetarian' by the 'international definition' (IVU definition) - vegan with or without the addition of eggs and/or milk and/or honey, but that they advocate the strictest form of plant-exclusive diets. MaynardClark (talk) 23:44, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Psychologist Guy I'd say it's worth updating to say it formerly promoted vegetarianism and now focuses on promoting veganism. Throughthemind (talk) 17:09, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- I agree and I was thinking the same. I have to admit I am disappointed with this move. It might alienate vegetarians. If you check older versions of their website it used to say vegetarianism. The replacement of veganism seems to have happened about five or six years ago. Psychologist Guy (talk) 18:46, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
Last missing IVU chairman
[edit]In the IVU Presidents box, there is a missing president (chairman) from 2011 to 2018. IVU abandoned president terminology and used chairman from 1999 so that is the word we are looking for. It would be interesting to know who this chairman was because then we would have a complete list. Psychologist Guy (talk) 18:50, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
