Criteria???
[edit]Although a pseudodefinition is provided in the article (with questioned source), this article would be greatly improved by including a cited list of diagnostic criteria for hyperreligiosity. What specific symptoms, behavior, or self-reported thoughts/ideations must a psychiatrist observe/document in their patients to say that they meet clinical criteria for this diagnosis? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.232.14.2 (talk) 18:59, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Criticism Section?
[edit]Agreeing that the definition itself is a psuedodefinition lacking any criteria upon which a medical professional would be able to determine the presence of this symptom in a patient, there is certainly criticism of this even being something that is included as a trait of psychological maladies from numerous angles and additional critique of how religion is understood in general by the organization providing the diagnostic criteria, as this interpretation of what religion even is varies wildly between religious traditions and psychology has tended towards ethnocentric fixation on the faiths of Abraham historically when defining or suggesting things about religion in general. It would be helpful were these various elements of existing critique addressed, as it would be helpful to include the context surrounding the definition's formulation and how it has changed between various variants of diagnostic manuals published that include it.
