Year of birth
[edit]Who's Who thinks he was born on 1 July 1934. An unnamed wiki contributor believes he was born on 1 July 1931.
His parents appear to have been Joseph Elfed Jones and Ethel Jones. Two Jones & Jones marriages took place in the decade preceding our man's birth, but only one of them took place in Pontardawe which is where "our man" went to school. Those Joneses married 1927 which - should you be minded to assume that the birth was preceded by the parents' marriage - does not rule out either birth year.
As you would expect with a Jones, there are several people registered as born David H Jones in Q3 1931 and several more registered as born in Q3 1934. However, only in Q3 1934 is one of them registered as born in Pontardawe registration district.
Plenty of people lie to Who's Who about their birth years and Who's Who tends to print what he is told. Nevertheless, on the strong balance of probabilities in this case I think Who's Who is likely to be right. I will make the necessary adjustment. Please take the matter to this talk page and GIVE YOUR SOURCES (and reasons if necessary) if not in agreement.
