Red Guards

[edit]

I can't see there is any relationship between HKSSU and the Red Guards. This is a union under the pan-democratic camp in Hong Kong, many policies of the union is against the Communist Party. Well, it took place in the anti-Japanese protests, but it doesn't means that this union is related to the Red Guards. Some former administrators of the union saw this kind of comments as a severe offense.

In fact, during the protests, when Szeto Wah asked the Communist to re-comment on Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 besides calling other countries not to telling lies on history, many students clamour against him. After that, the union already pronounced that, these students are not related to the union.

Even inside the union, I nearly never heard any news about chairman Leung is a supporter of the protests, I could only saw vice chairmen Derek Chan and Billy Shui in Mingpao. 02:15, 27 Jun 2005 TonySapphire

They are both youth organizations of China. "See also" doesn't necessarily mean that the listed entities share exactly the same set of policies or a similar political nature. Besides the Red Guards also were against the CCP in that they were revolting against the mainstream members of the CCP at the time such as Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping who were promoting capitalist-inclined economic reforms. Internal unrest section

[edit]

Some months ago, then-chairman Kwok sent members like David Tong Chung Kong to bomb the Encyclopedia of Virtual Communities of Hong Kong and force the EVCHK members to vote down the articles criticizing them. The HKSSU issued a pronouncement claiming the content of the criticisms "irresponsible and offensive". Of course his followers want this article gone.
