Article was marked for deletion as non-notable, yet High Zero is notable and unique as a US improvised music festival. In addition, wikipedia does not yet contain much information on free improvised music in general. --Ravelite 23:56, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article was nominated on AFD and was deleted here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/High Zero. Wickethewok 23:59, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There was a previous article on High Zero? The festival seems to be mentioned by both City Paper: Best of Baltimore and allaboutjazz.com. --Ravelite 00:09, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, the characterization of this article as reposted content in the template is incorrect. Author has not seen original article, as it was deleted before I knew it existed. --Ravelite 00:13, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The issues that plagued the previous article are irrelevant with respect to this one. Article is verifiable and notable based on two outside sources discussing the festival. Text is not copied verbatim from anywhere, ruling out the possibility of copyright violation. --Ravelite 00:19, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now that High Zero is established as notable, here are some possible sources of material:

Free Music

[edit]

What does free music mean in this context? Does it mean gratis? I've been unable to find anything regarding the licensing of the recorded music, that might make it free in the free culture sense of the word. 280.status.net/douglasawh (talk) 17:16, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Press"

[edit]

I removed the section called "Press" from the article – it was not encyclopedic text. Maybe some of it can be used as sources, though, so I'm pasting it below. --bonadea contributions talk 14:58, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Today's the last chance to catch Ricardo Arias playing the balloons, Paolo Angelli on the Sardinian guitar, Chris Cooper elevating feedback to a higher art and others creating the next new wave."

  • "Now in its seventh year, High Zero, which runs from Sept. 22 to 25, has become one of the largest festivals of improvised music in the United States. It brings together a wide variety of artists -- free jazz, electronic music, noise, contemporary composition and so on -- for all-new, improvised collaborations at the Theatre Project ... It's a concept modeled on British avant-gardist guitarist Derek Bailey's Company festivals, which began in the late '70s and gathered improvising musicians who had not played together, organizing them into ad hoc ensembles of various sizes and then setting them loose to make music."
