Afghan leadership in infobox?
[edit]Should we add some form of information about his de facto leadership of Afghanistan since Kabul's fall? I mean the lead also mentions he's the leader of the country. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 02:20, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

Birth year inconsistency
[edit]The article currently gives both 1959 and 1961 - the inconsistency needs to be resolved. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:18, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
Emir
[edit]@Salamun44: Akhundzada assumed the position of Emir on May 25th 2016. The Taliban has always referred to themselves as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and the leader of the Taliban is the Emir of IEA. The IEA did not come into existence in 2021, but has always existed since 1996 as the Taliban. He should be listed as emir since may 25 2016 Serafart (talk) (contributions) 18:02, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Serafart:, Akhundzada has never assumed the position of "Emir", he is given the title Emir al-Mu'mineem (Commander of the Believers) by Taliban. He was elected as the head of Taliban on May 25, 2016, and the Taliban calls itself IEA, it is not internationality recognized as IEA right now, the common name is Taliban. Salamun44 18:16, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- I can't help but notice that "Emir al-Mu'mineem" is a kind of Emir. the state is an Emirate and its ruler is an absolute lifetime monarch-- and Emir. It doesn't matter whether he's internationally recognized as such, it matters what the situation in the country is. That's why the article on Afghanistan is on the Emirate, even though most states still recognize the Republic. 169.233.249.211 (talk) 06:45, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Should we change his position in the infobox to Emir of Afghanistan? GoodDay (talk) 17:19, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
@Tartan357: instead merely reverting. Would you please join this discussion? GoodDay (talk) 19:21, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- GoodDay, I'm certainly free to revert your unreferenced additions to a BLP. I've responded to your duplicate comment at Talk:Afghanistan. ― Tartan357 Talk 19:26, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- You better get you revert button working, over at List of current heads of state and government, concerning Afghanistan's entry. GoodDay (talk) 19:28, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
Move to Haibatullah Akhundzada?
[edit]The romanized form is more accurately "Haibatullah" with an A. --Weaveravel (talk) 13:53, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
The correctly romanized form is, as written, Hibatullah, as there is no “ai” construct in Arabic and there is only one vowel present in between the letter Hā and the letter bā in the word “هِبَة”, which ultimately forms هِبَتُ الله or “Hibatullāh”. Tennosenna (talk) 03:19, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
Birth date
[edit]With all due respect. Is it asking too much for the disputing editors, to bring there dispute 'here'? Instead of participating in a slow edit-war? GoodDay (talk) 18:49, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Possible death?
[edit]His death was apparently announced by CNN-News18? I can't edit the page to add it though https://www.news18.com/news/world/exclusive-taliban-confirm-chief-hibatullah-akhundzada-died-in-suicide-attack-by-pak-forces-last-year-4326965.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nar001 (talk • contribs) 23:29, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
Succession box
[edit]@Dash9Z: You seem to be under the impression with some of these edits that the Taliban is merely a political group, separate from the state of Afghanistan. That is not the case. The Taliban itself claims to be the state of Afghanistan. Its formal name is the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. It is a state, and its leader is the head of state, which is indisputably a political office. ― Tartan357 Talk 05:17, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
Infobox a bit confusing
[edit]Likely, it can't be helped. But the content of the infobox is a tad confusing, concerning his position as Islamic leader & Afghanistan leader. GoodDay (talk) 23:11, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- Vague complaints are not helpful. Please clearly state what is confusing to you and what changes you think should be made. ― Tartan357 Talk 03:10, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
- If you can't see it? then there's nothing more to be said. GoodDay (talk) 04:24, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
Wrong year of birth
[edit]France 24 and Al Jazeera, reliable sources, say Akhundzada is "believed to be in his 70s." [1][2] This must be fixed in the article. I have already removed the wrong, unsourced, years of birth from the infobox. Thanks, Khestwol (talk) 15:00, 1 May 2022 (UTC)

Numbering of leaders
[edit]Tartan357, seeing as Mewulwe has deleted the numbering from the Supreme leader position in the infobox? I've done the same for his two predecessors. My advice? Don't bother fighting Mewulwe on this. He always deletes numberings from random bios of political leaders, with no concern about the individual's predecessors or successors. GoodDay (talk) 22:43, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
WP:WEASEL
[edit]This article is rife with "reportedly" and "allegedly". This is not surprising given the nature of the man himself, but these words are discouraged by the WP:WEASEL policy. We should reduce the use of these words. In most cases, if we can't state a fact verifiably with a Reliable source, we should just remove the statement completely.
