I read both books, admitedly about 40 years ago now. As I recall, there was no suggestion Barber left Taylor on the mountain. Taylor would probably still be there. The idea a partner would leave his partner on a mountain with a massive compound fracture, and then waltz off to a speaking engagement is ridiculous. There wouldn't be any controversy, that would have got Barber reviled everywhere. Barber made a very physically demanding, and technical rescue of Taylor, and then Taylor was left in hospital. Many could not have made the rescue which involved getting him off the mountain, and carrying him many miles on his back. Taylor was traumatized, and would have a appreciated a hand hold. Something I can identify with having suffered a double version of the "oh look there is the bottom of my feet" compound fracture about 15 years ago. One might think Barber had left Taylor on the mountain for all the controversy that resulted. Not defending the etiquette of leaving your partner in a clinic or hospital and taking off, but it is very different than what is alleged here. What is here is libellous. For sources, both Taylor and Barber wrote books that I have. Taylor states Barber rescued him he never makes the accusations that are levelled here.69.158.124.90 (talk) 07:13, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
