I have updated the references (both in-line and the complete list at the end), as well as making some stylistic and grammar changes to make the article more readable. MYFloofles (talk) 22:08, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I found

... widening of a canyon by erosion along its very top edge, ...

which eroded [heh!] my grasp of that fragment's intent.

IMNSHO, ease of comprehension had been sacrificed, in favor of exploiting the presumable insight, of the more subject-matter-familiar readers, effectively inviting them to -- somewhat acrobatically -- stop confusing (or, I guess more precisely, 'confounding') the prominently vertical flow,

  over the canyon edge

with the (overwhelmingly predominant) horizontal flow

along the length of the canyon.

While I acknowledge that these are more easily grasped as essentially two independent processes, the fact remains that there is a smooth (though in practice probably generally clearcut) transition. Perhaps a professional hydrologist, or a mathematician specializing in the deeper foundations of "(the) calculus" can speak with more authority than I dare to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.220.230.26 (talk) 03:50, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
