Problematic name

[edit]

HD 89890 is the designation only of the brightest of the four stars described in the article. HIP 50676, and XHIP, explicitly refers to components A and B. The starbox contains a mixture of data for component A and for combined both components A and B, so the absolute magnitude for example is for two components combined. There is only about a 0.1 magnitude difference for the combination, but probably still best to clarify. Also the spectral types are given for C, and for Bb although it takes some digging to work out which is which. Not sure how to clarify all this, whether it is best to keep it within this article title and just clarify the starboxes a bit (or a lot), or move it to something more generic and inclusive.

On a related note, the stars of Vela template includes this star under MV Velorum, a variable star designation which isn't mentioned in the article. This designation also really only applies to component A, so probably not any better as a title. Lithopsian (talk) 19:51, 11 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've tweaked the article to be more consistent with its title, and to be more clear about the designations of the various components, and sometimes of several components combined. Could still be improved, either more or less about the secondary components, up to even renaming the whole article to be explicitly about the system (WDS designation?) or the A/B combination (HIP designation?). Template is fixed and this star appears in bold. Lithopsian (talk) 16:29, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
