Have removed Rodrigo and Gabriella - duets yes, but they're not really battles, Rod almost always plays lead and Gab accompanies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.217.117.34 (talk) 13:35, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Why is it called "head-cutting"?
[edit]I was surprised to find no explanation or etymology of the term "head cutting" in this article--especially since a Wikipedia search for "head cutting" winds up here. Perhaps some knowledgeable person can explain what the term "head cutting" actually refers to, or where it came from? Chillowack (talk) 06:51, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- It's as old as Robert Johnson, at least. Check ref #2 (it's clickable), more specifically, this search. To wit: "head" means "person" as in "counting heads"; "cutting" means "taking away". It was about busking, a short distance away from another busker, and playing so well that one could literally steal audience watching a musician over there, by enticing them to walk over here to listen to you instead, and earn their donations to the hat. It was described and acted out in The Search for Robert Johnson, and was written about in several books on Johnson and other musicians of that era. --Lexein (talk) 07:32, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
