Cut off not correct
[edit]The Bromley North line is not cut off as indicated as there is still the connection is still there from platform 1 that joins the fast platform 2 track but is rarely used.
Once upon a time there was a throwover connection from platform 3 where direct trains from the London termini could cross onto the branch usually whilst a "popper" was in at platform 1, however with increased timetabling on the fast up which carried the coastal expresses, these conflicted with the Bromley North through trains thus stopping an express in Elmstead Woods station or tunnel exit signal did not go down too well with passengers or drivers who would be booked for late running and so the platform 3 crossover was routed out.
Direct trains through the platform one connection did persist but again, crossing a train from the fast down over to the fast up, running a section against the flow then in to platform 1 was again a timetabling gauntlet when it became super expedient to just reduce the service down to the 2 car units and no more through trains.
There is a quite potent campaign to reinstate the direct to London services, the BR days saw the rush hour trains leave Grove Park and fast to London Bridge and invariably they had 2EPB's with first class compartments/toilets in the 10 car trains.

- The cut off you appear to be referring to refers to the layout of platform 1 as a structure, which is itself separated - it is not referring to the track layout. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 20:35, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
