Re-opening ? (2023)
[edit]I am busy elsewhere right now, but presently I hope to return with some updates and corrections.
Fixed-wing aircraft were not permitted to use the heliport.
In later years this was probably correct, but the article is about the airport, of which the heliport was only one aspect. Hence that comment, whilst technically correct, is unhelpful and does not provide the full picture.
Meanwhile, this news report from 2023 indicates there are moves afoot to re-open the site, including provision for microlights i.e. aircraft not requiring much in terms of prepared runways.
And on 30 August 2023, a 'proper' aircraft (PA-28 G-AVLC) landed - the first in 40 years.
I shall search for further news if/when I return. But if another editor is reading this; be my guest - help yourself! You're welcome! WendlingCrusader (talk) 14:49, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- The airfield has a very active facebook page [1] and their website is up and running [2] Gavbadger (talk) 15:19, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
