[edit]I am the director of public relations for the Grand Prix of Houston. I write press releases that are distributed to a large number of media outlets, including many online news sources. Many of those sources post my press releases verbatim.
One such press release that I wrote included much of the same language that I submitted to wikipedia. The source that this page is alleged to be in violation of actually took the language from my press release. I am the original author of this language so posting the language in the wikipedia page for "Grand Prix of Houston" is not in any way a copywrite violation.
So in other words:
1. I wrote a press release 2. I distributed it to a number of online news outlets 3. One of those news outlets (the "source") published part of my press release verbatim 4. I later entered a wikipedia listing for "Grand Prix of Houston" 5. I used some of the language from the previous press release in the wikipedia listing 6. Wikipedia thinks that I have violated the copywrite of the source listed
Thanks!
I took the liberty of re-writing the entire article. It sounded too much like an advertisement for my tastes. Hope you don't mind. Gujuguy 20:49, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
