Confusion with Golden Minbar

[edit]

Article is titled "Golden Minbar International Film Festival", but article starts with "The International Festival of Muslim Cinema «Golden Minbar» is ...". Also, the festival website (www.mfmk.ru/m/eng/index.php) says:

  • International festival of Muslim cinema "Golden Minbar" and
  • International Festival of Muslim Cinema «Golden Minbar»

Change article title to International Festival of Muslim Cinema ? Seems unclear to me if "Golden Minbar" is part of the festival name. --EarthFurst (talk) 22:47, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps title article Golden Minbar - International Festival of Muslim Cinema? --EarthFurst (talk) 22:56, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

EarthFurst and others: This source calls it International Festival Of Muslim Cinema in the title, but in the first line, "The International Festival of Muslim Cinema «Golden Minbar»". Experience with editing other Russian film festivals, this seems to be a common way of translating - putting the name at the end - so I think that this could be merged to Golden Minbar International Film Festival and then possibly adding the suffix "of Muslim Cinema" at the end (i.e. moving the article to "Golden Minbar International Film Festival of Muslim Cinema". (That source also says "The First International Festival Of Muslim Cinema "Golden Minbar" took place in the capital of Tatarstan - Kazan - from the 5th to the 11th of September 2005 and was devoted to the 1000th anniversary of Kazan." - so clearly the same festival.). I have just expanded that article with additional sources. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:20, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Correction to merge proposal

[edit]

Having just come across this article, which says: "The Kazan Muslim Film Festival can be considered the successor of the Golden Minbar International Film Festival. It was founded in 2004 in Moscow as an international forum for Muslim filmmakers. The festival was held in Kazan every year from 2005 to 2009..." etc. - this might be why I had originally proposed the merge in the other direction (last year sometime), and will reinstate that proposal now.
