Citations needed

[edit]

So why are citations needed for basic geographic facts that are easily verified from an atlas? jaknouse (talk) 18:30, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because nobody has sourced said atlas. Nyttend (talk) 02:07, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Those facts don't come from an atlas. They come from direct visual observation. This is not original research, this is simple fact. This is where I live. Do you want "citations" for the map I provided? I removed the tags. They've been there over a year and a half, and nobody has disputed said geographic facts. jaknouse (talk) 20:52, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, saying something based on "I've seen it" is original research. You could say "I did this thing in a laboratory, and that thing happened; it's never been reported in scientific literature, but it's a fact", and so saying would be the definition of original research.
