Page Change/Move
[edit]I made the mistake of cut and pasting this page to a new article rather than using the 'move function.' I've learned my lesson, but in the meantime this page now has a duplicate at Cancer Support Community which is where the original article should have simply been moved in order to preserve the article history. I am unable to do the move after the fact because the other article still exists, and I am unable to remove the other article. I apologize but I am unsure of how to proceed. Corrections to Page, and Page Organization
[edit]Hi there - Numerous changes implemented on November 28 on the Gilda's Club page are incorrect. Firstly, the national organization of Gilda's Clubs merged with The Wellness Community, to create an umbrella organization, the Cancer Support Community. Secondly, local chapters of Gilda's Clubs have made a move to change their names to the Cancer Support Community; but the changes (and the page as whole) now implies that this has happened at a national level, when in fact it is being done at a local level. The article cited, "Gilda’s Club changing name, as fewer know namesake", retrieved from the Wisconsin State Journal on 2011-11-28, makes this nuance slightly more clear, but changes made to the text of the page make the actual occurrence - and the history of the Gilda's Club organization - completely unclear.
Citation of the merger in 2009 between Gilda's Club and The Wellness Community and description of the relationship can be found in Oncology Times, at Cure Today, and at The NonProfit Times.
Furthermore, the organization of the pages should be as follows: Searches for the Wellness Community should redirect to Cancer Support Community. Cancer Support Community should continue to have its own page - and should not be removed - linking out to Gilda's Club. The Gilda's Club page should stand alone and the history and mission of Gilda's Club should pertain to Gilda's Club, not Cancer Support Community. What could be added to it is a subsection discussing its collection of local chapters that operate independently.
I'm not sure how to undo the page change or move, other than to recreate Cancer Support Community and relink properly.
Apologies if this discussion belongs in another section. Mmelibrarian (talk) 20:37, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
