Peer Review

[edit]

First, I think it is both a positive and a negative to have an article that is incredibly short you all have a lot of room to improve! The first section I will address is the Current Activity Section. I thought there were a lot of great facts in the section that really helped the article. I think that it may need a few more sources to really create a broad image about who this organization is and what they are doing today. I would check your sources to ensure that they are reliable and up to date. The next section is Transnational efforts, I think it is a great start but you talked a lot about the organization calling on certain organizations for help but you did not talk about what they did or did not do and how that impacted their transnational efforts. I think there is more facts that could be added as well as some good sources to support what you are saying. For the section the History of the GUSW I thought added a lot of good information but was filled up a lot with long quotes and needs less quotes and more content. You have a lot of sources for your section so I would discuss them as much as possible to really get all of the information to the readers. For the section General Union of Syrian Women Organization I thought that this was a very good contribution. You displayed the facts and cited appropriately. There was a lot of good information and a few sentences did not flow together so be sure to re-read so that everything sounds good. Overall, I think your sections have added a lot to the article that was previously so short and am looking forward to reading your article!Thomasonmariah (talk) 22:03, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Critique of the Organization Section

[edit]

Throughout the Organization section, the language used is repetitive and vague, leaving out many relevant details in each subheading of the section. Within each subheading, some of the information included is irrelevant. For example, under Membership and Structure, it talks mainly about what the group's mission and their achievements- "The GUSW advocates for rights beyond equality," and "the GUSW has also been praised by the Syrian Prime Minister." Under the "Goals" subheading, much of the same information is reiterated from the "Membership and Structure" section.

Overall, it seems as if more information is needed to flesh out these sections, and that the organization of the information in each section needs to be rethought for the sake of clarity.

Additionally, one of the sources used in the "Goals" subheading of the "Organization" section does not appear to be official or reliable. It's Source 8, used to cite how the GUSW advocates for family planning education. The website, www.mediterraneas.org, is not a scholarly source and could easily be biased or misinformed.

As this article continues to develop, it's important to find sources that are reliable and provide details to tell a fuller story about the GUSW

I don't know if they are the same thing, but reading the two articles, they seem to be. MiguelMadeira (talk) 00:11, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
