Clean Up
[edit]Ok, it's been cleaned up some and untagged. Specific recipes should not be added, that is wikicookbook territory. Superclear 01:02, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
French onion soup is French, so why the statement that "Although ancient in origin, this dish underwent a resurgence of popularity in the 1960s in the United States due to a greater interest in French cuisine". The United States is only one of many places outside France where French onion soup may be enjoyed.101.98.175.68 (talk) 00:51, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
Gratinee Lyonnaise
[edit]Seeing as most of the other titles are in French, surely this should be mentioned by its French name 'gratinee Lyonnaise'. After all, we dont call a croque monsieur a Mr Crunchy.
I think we should though! Mr and Mrs Crunchy!74.71.215.141 (talk) 18:44, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Contradiction/cleanup
[edit]I'd like to clean up this article and merge the Saveur information into the main body of the text, but there is a contradiction in the article that needs to be sorted out first. The article claims that french onion soup has been associated with poor people throughout history. On the other hand, it also recounts what is apparently a popular legend that the soup was personally invented by a King of France (with champagne!). So... it's a royal dish for poor people ? Link to History of Soup does not contain information about ancient soups with croutons
[edit]In the History section there is a reference to the History of Soup article in relation to croutons and ancient soups. I could neither find the word 'crouton' nor the word 'ancient' in the body of the History of Soup article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.87.238.229 (talk) 18:46, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
What to do with the Moravian onion soup
[edit]I do not want to include it here, as this article is dedicated to the French onion soup. Shall I create a new article or do we use the Lemma Onion soup for all onion soups of the world - there are many different kinds of onion soups, trust me, even if they are called French in some countries like Austria.--Meister und Margarita (talk) 21:37, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
