Locator map

[edit]

This article needs a locator showing the position of the territory in the world. -- Beland 01:06, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well... first, it's part of the state of Hawaii, not a territory, so for a map, go to Hawaii, or Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, the region of Hawaii. If we put a regional map on this page, we set a precedent of putting regional maps on all ten of the NW Hawaiian Islands' pages, when one could just go to the superior page. Oahu, Maui, and Molokai don't have maps showing their relationship to the other islands, do they? SeanMD80talk | contribs 04:13, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oahu, Maui, and Molokai don't have maps showing their relationship to the other islands, do they? They do actually, and the individual NW islands would probably benefit from a map showing where they are in Hawaii as well (I think showing where they are in the world is probably unnecessary though) - fortunately Image:Hawaiianislandchain USGS.png already exists and I don't see anything wrong with putting a copy in each article. This could be a very expansive article, so I'm keeping it's current status at "Start" class. Ecology section is good, but the history section could be more comprehensive. Info about each of the individual islands in the reef is needed. The section on the airport could be alot bigger to include its history and current status, and stuff about the LORAN station on Tern Island needs to be added. Needs more than just one sentence about La Perouse Pinnacle. If there were any shipwrecks throughout the years here that are not mentioned already, they need to be added. Are the coral and nesting bird lists necessary?

[edit]

They just read as long lists, and that's it. Most of the listed coral species either don't have links or are redlinked, while the birds are already mentioned and listed off in "Geology and ecology" (which I merged the two sections with in my first edit), with links and everything.

I removed the bird list, but I'm keeping the coral list because its information isn't listed in prose already; regardless, I put a prose template above it. AdoTang (talk) 18:25, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
