The article fails semantics

[edit]

This article is poorly written and misrepresenting. China never even claimed to have invented these 4 things entirely. Instead they were highlighting the 4 areas where China are now producing NEW inventions/innovations in which ultimately allowed them to dominate and outpace the rest of the world in. That was what they meant - new tech patents in only recent years, that gives them a global lead in these areas. Ie -

For trains, their new railway technology now outpaces Europe's. https://www.railtech.com/innovation/2021/07/07/era-chinese-rail-inventions-have-overtaken-european-ones/

To create the world's fastest train. They had to create entirely new innovations to achieve that.

For ecommerce, the number of new patents in cashless payments etc are the world's dominant. No other country produce more blockchain tech than China currently for example.

Same thing goes with mobile payment with their AI and Alipay cashless payments patents. https://www.yicaiglobal.com/news/china-alibaba--alipay-top-global-blockchain-patents-ranking

I am not familiar with bike sharing but they seem to dominate the Global market and have new patents https://www.hfgip.com/news/mobyke-or-ofo-patent-perspective

However the point is they were specifically and only talking about new inventions in the field. Not actually inventing the entire field itself. Even BBC cites a clarification from a mainlander chinese professor.

China has outpaced other countries in the widespread adoption and adaptation of all of the four technologies.

"Some may argue that the technologies the 'four new great inventions' are based on did not originate in China. That is true, but it is China that used the technologies to come up with the new inventions," writes Xu Gongcheng, a professor at Xiamen University.

When China wrote that article. They said they were creating new inventions in the field and had only cited inventions from recent years specifically. There was no claim that they invented the entire Field many decades ago. This article needs a proper discussion as it's just become flawed propaganda itself. China indeed created new inventions and really don't need to make up such extreme additional claims. Which they didn't. They only claimed NEW inventions. And highlighting 4 areas where the country is now producing al lot of new original inventions in. And are continuing to do so. MangoTareeface9 (talk) 22:08, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
