[edit]It should be marked somehow that religious and military Crimean Tatar flags were used only for a short period in 1917-1920. Unlike the blue "kök bayraq" which was used in the times of the Khanate and is still widely used today, this red and green banners were not in use neither before the Revolution nor after 1920, ans are unknown to the majority of Crimean tatars now.
Another question about the Soviet flags. Who is the author of this images? 1921 flag must have inscription Кр.С.С.Р., 1929 - QrMSŞÇ, 1938 flag - КрАССР. All of them have mistakes. Arabian inscription on rhe 1921 flag must be ق س ش ج
IMHO it would be better either to remove this images or to make new ones with correct letters. Don Alessandro 08:34, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'll mark that the flags were used for only a short time.. I just based those images off the ones found at the Flags of the World website, but yes sorry about the 1921 flag mistake. I will remove them now and create new versions with the corrections. Thanks, —dima/s-ko/ 15:22, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have fix the mistakes you listed above. Thanks, —dima/s-ko/ 15:52, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your corrections, but still there are two bugs:
- Arabic letters are to be in right-to-left order. i.e. ق س ش ج
- ق is for قریم - Qırım - Crimea, س - سوسیالیستیک - Sotsialistik - Socialist, ش - شورالر - Şuralar - Soviet, ج - جمهوری - Cumhuriyet - Republic
- You've forgotten to change КрАССС to КрАССР on the 1929 flag.

- PS Второе замечание снимается. :) Don Alessandro 16:09, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've corrected the 1921 image. Don Alessandro 19:22, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- So have I, only 2 mins. befor :)) BTW, what language is QrMSŞÇ written in? —dima/s-ko/ 19:29, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- It is Crimean Tatar - official language of the Crimean ASSR, written in the Uniform Turkic Alphabet. QrMSŞÇ is an abbreviation of Qrьm Muxtar Sosialistik Şuralar Çumhurijeti. In 1930s Arabic loanwords muxtar (autonomous), şura (counsil) and çumhurijet (republic) were replaced with Russian loans avtonomja, sovet and respublika, so bu the end of 1930s the official name was changed to Qrьm Avtonomjalь Sovet Sosialistik Respublikasь and to Кърым Автономиялы Совет Социалистик Республикасы after the adoption of the cyrillic script. Now pre-Soviet terminology is restored, so in modern Crimean Tatar this republic is called Qırım Muhtar Şuralar Sotsialistik Cumhuriyeti. Don Alessandro 19:57, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

- I see. I will add that it is in Uniform Turkic right now into the article.. Thanks, —dima/s-ko/ 18:55, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Sevastopol
[edit]Does this flag represent the entire peninsula, or exclude Sevastopol? If the former, then we could simply state this is the flag of Crimea, piped to Crimean Peninsula, since the political emphasis on the flag accepted by both Russia and Ukraine is not needed. If this flag doesn't represent the entire peninsula, then I guess we don't really have a choice. Rob (talk | contribs) 19:20, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
