Notable Alumni Changes

[edit]

Anonymous user deleted some notable alumni names with no explanation and no information on the talk page. Adding these back in as they have been added by the community. Please post rationale here for deletion before deleting again so we can discuss. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chicrunner79 (talkcontribs) 15:26, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

- ---> note I removed 'distinguished' and 'preeminent' where you had removed them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chicrunner79 (talkcontribs) 15:31, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganization (More needed)

[edit]

Reordered curriculum to immediately follow Education. More updates to the curriculum section are needed since the school is going through a major curriculum redesign in 2011-2012.

Also, I would like to remove the Prosthetics and Orthotics Section, since the certificate program is going away in 2012 and also because the school has more than 60 departments, programs and institutes; it seems rather odd to call out one program vs. any other.

I removed this section per my initial post here. I received additional editor feedback that unless the program is "especially distinguished," this type of section is not necessary unless we call out all 60+ departments, institutes, and centers. One suggestion would be to have a departments, sections, and institutes header, but that is unnecessary and may be better suited as one sentence in the overview instead of an entire section. Finally, there may be an opportunity to clean up/combine the 'rankings' and 'recent growth' section into some of the other sections (Research and Education). I also added a little more description to the overview, as seems to be standard for similar medical schools - Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Duke University School of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, UC San Diego School of Medicine, etc. Chicrunner79 (talk) 17:32, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Created new section for Research

[edit]

Feinberg ranks in the top 20 medical schools in the US for research (according to US News and World Report), and research is one of the school's missions, therefore a Research section is relevant to any discussion about Feinberg. For now the section contains mostly financial data and NIH information. Moving forward, this section could also be expanded to include notable research discoveries (see Perelman (Penn) School of Medicine's "Research Advancements" section or Stanford University School of Medicine's "Notable research/achievements" section).

Some of the language from "recent growth" can be moved here - specifically "research space has grown 88 percent and education space 67 percent since 2000."Chicrunner79 (talk) 19:48, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updated Student Body Profile and US News Rankings

[edit]

The University recently made public more details about the Medical School student body. I am updating the infobox here with new figures and have cited the reference on the page. I also updated the page to reflect the current US News Ranking and added that citation. comment added by Chicrunner79 (talk) 15:34, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Chicrunner79Chicrunner79 (talkcontribs) 15:21, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updated Web Site Address

[edit]

I am updating the web site address to reflect the correct version. While www.medicine.northwestern.edu will redirect users to the correct one (www.feinberg.northwestern.edu), I am not sure whether that will continue in perpetuity, so I have included the updated address. Email me with questions. Nmladic (talk) 21:08, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Nmladic[reply]

Added news release tag

[edit]

Admittedly I am not involved in editing this article, however, I noticed that this article reads like a press release. It uses a lot of phrases such as "state-of-the-art" or "nation's leading." Additionally, this article seems to be predominantly written by one person who potentially might be closely related with the subject. Thus I added the news release tag. Please let me know if I made a mistake. Thanks. Lookunder (talk) 07:37, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

→ Hi there. I've been editing the NU Feinberg School of Medicine page for a while. I see your note that the page looks promotional, I am happy to edit out some of the language you referenced to make the page better- please feel free to do the same! If you have any tips on content or other advice for the page, I am happy to spend time on it. Chicrunner79 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:24, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like this issue was resolved. Removed tag.2601:280:2:7718:2CFD:F385:A44D:FAB1 (talk) 19:13, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
