2022-24 update?

[edit]

This article says that the because the two-year deferral of old-growth logging in June 2021 (which was extended and is now going until 2025) only covered a specific region of the forest, some protestors were unlikely to stop: https://thediscourse.ca/nanaimo/old-growth-logging-deferrals-fairy-creek

However, I can't find any news articles on what happened after that. Were there still protestors there after June 2021? Any arrests? When did the protests end, if they've even ended?

I'm also curious about logging operations - are they still logging the unprotected areas that are technically outside of the Fairy Creek watershed, but are essentially the same forest? ThePlug111 (talk) 07:56, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Central Walbran?

[edit]

A lot of articles mention the Central Walbran as a separate but related area to Fairy Creek. This article currently does not clarify this, and only passingly mentions Central Walbran near the end of the page.

This CBC article about the deferral renewal doesn't mention it at all, just Fairy Creek: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/fairy-creek-defer-old-growth-logging-extension-1.6864569

I think it would be nice to include a clarification about what these regions are and how they relate to the protests. ThePlug111 (talk) 07:58, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
