"World Cup 98"
[edit]Shouldn't "World Cup 98" be FIFA 98:RTWC's successor instead of Fifa 99? But technically "World Cup 98" is not in the Fifa series... --Jambalaya 14:25, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Redirect
[edit]Short memo to anybody interested. This article has to be redirected from FIFA '98: Road To World Cup to FIFA '98: Road to World Cup as the latter with lower case "to" is technically correct. Gamer Junkie 16:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
National Teams, Music Tracks
[edit]I am asking this question one more time: why were the lists of national teams, music tracks etc. deleted? The article about FIFA 08 has all of them and way more information about the game. Why on earth is FIFA '98 different from FIFA 08 and why aren't the same things allowed here?... --Szbszig 18:12, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- It basically boils down to the fact that lists of this type are unsuitable for an encyclopedia article. A complete list of teams is unecessary because it doesn't add to the understanding of the article. All that needs to be said is that the game features every team that took part in the 1998 World Cup. Ditto for the soundtrack - any particularly notable aspects of these should be mentioned in prose. The FIFA 08 article may have lists, but it shouldn't. Eventually someone will get around to removing them, feel free to do it yourself if you want. Miremare 18:39, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Isn't an other main title The Rockafeller Skank from FAtboy slim?--91.49.195.178 (talk) 11:22, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- No, that song was used in FIFA 99, not FIFA 98. – PeeJay 14:33, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Poorly written and POV
[edit]Not all of the article is poor, but this section in particular needs rewriting, and some kind of citation is required.
"The game also featured a five-a-side indoor mode, which was very popular with many fans.[citation needed]
With the new graphical improvements, players were able to have recognisable faces. The faces looked more like expressions, though, as the starting elevens of Bulgaria and Ukraine could consist of "sad"-looking players, while the starting eleven of Macedonia could have "tough"-looking players."
I can't say I knew anyone for whom the five-a-side option was more than a passing curiosity, and why would it be otherwise when there were so many authentic game modes from national leagues to World Cup qualification? I suggest it's the point of view of the author/contributor. Also, the writing re. "sad" and "tough"-looking players seems rather subjective and written as if by someone for whom English is a second or third language. Why would someone even notice that? - You're totally right. I just completed a copyedit to do something about all the ridiculous peacock and weasel language. I was going to leave some of it in with citation needed tags, but once I actually got started, most of it just seemed so indefensible that I simply removed all the silliness (revolutionised! boasted! is thought to be the most ambitious!) and reworded it to conform with NPOV.
