What does all lands mean?

@Smoceany2, Eivindgh, and CambridgeBayWeather: I didn't understand "all lands" either. It dates to the first version of this article, when it was arranged by country. In that context, I could understand all lands under the heading of Canada (for example) to mean "the most extreme northern point in all of Canada's lands" (perhaps distinguishing from sea/ocean territorial claims). Russia was listed with two "all lands" points, one for Asia and one for Europe (this distinction was lost).

Would there be any objection to phrasing the notes to reflect this? – Reidgreg (talk) 13:52, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Oh, a new furthest north has become established for Greenland since this article was first created, so that "all lands" statement has become outdated. See Most northerly point of land. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:56, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

According to Cape Columbia "It is the world's northernmost point of land outside Greenland." which makes more sense than "all lands". Or it could be the northernmost point of Canada. Point Barrow is the same in the United States. But should the northernmost point of all Arctic countries be included. Right now there is the US, Canada, Greenland, Norway, and Russia. I like the idea of including other arctic countries.

Another possible ambiguity is use of Greenland as a political entity and as an island. For example, Kaffeklubben Island is administratively classified as part of Greenland but is a separate island. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:31, 13 December 2022 (UTC)

I would classify Greenland's main island as the mainland in the same way that Great Britain is both an island the mainland. That looks fine. My suggestion is to first remove the item "Roosevelt Range, Peary Land" as it's better covered in List of northernmost items. Otherwise why not include lakes and other things. The word "proper" seems confusing. There are four entries for Norway of which three are called "proper". Here's my suggestion as to how the table should look. I've played around with the table a bit, mainly the Rossøya entry (using Svalbard archipelago to be clear it's an island) and adding Cape Columbia. I also changed the Remarks header to Northernmost land of in the interests of brevity and added for Finland, Sweden and Iceland at the bottom (unsure how to calculate distances from coordinates). For Iceland, Kolbeinsey is eroding and in the same situation as the gravel shoals of N. Greenland so I listed the larger, inhabited Grímsey island. – Reidgreg (talk) 18:31, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
