I will review this too. The article and the pictures look great from a glance. Hope my frequent reviewing of West content isn't coming across as excessive, lol.--NØ 21:10, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MaranoFan: Quite the opposite if anything, I am honoured for sure that you have taken on multiple articles to be reviewed! --K. Peake 21:35, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's good to hear. I always get shocked how some people get really upset about me doing a lot of Meghan Trainor content so I've just started asking things like this more often.--NØ 16:33, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a workhorse me, so this is more than welcomed! --K. Peake 17:11, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and lead

[edit]
  • The record label names should occur in the body and preferably the lead too and should be sourced.
  • The word "studio" is removed from studio names in the infobox so it should be just "Avex"
  • "Hank Shocklee were credited as songwriters due to having written sampled material" - "Hank Shocklee received songwriting credits as their material was sampled"
  • "The song's beat was passed on to West from the recording sessions for Common's seventh studio album, Finding Forever (2007)" - This would benefit from being in active voice: "West received the song's beat from the recording sessions for Common's seventh studio album, Finding Forever (2007)."
  • "West set the song to be relatable for a schoolgirl dealing who gets picked on, attempting to connect with Wendy Williams." - Is "dealing" a typo?
  • "that make him everything he is" - kind of theatrical for wiki-voice. Maybe say "that make him who he is"
  • "during the premiere for season 33 of Saturday Night Live" - "during the premiere of season 33 of Saturday Night Live"
  • Mention that "Fuck the Industry" is a song

Background and conception

[edit]
  • Same thing as the lead with the first sentence sounding better in active voice
  • "though wanted to contribute scratches" - "though he wanted to contribute scratches"
  • "and he took seven different scratching styles" - maybe "used" instead of "took"?
  • "He characterized the hook as "a prophetic statement" resembling what Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi would have said if a person approached him to express everything wrong with themselves and envisioned his response of telling them everything they are not made then everything they are, then suggesting: "Leave, my son."" - Change to "He characterized the hook as "a prophetic statement", resembling what Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi would have said if a person approached him to express everything wrong with themselves and envisioned his response of telling them everything they are not made, then everything they are, then suggesting, "Leave, my son."" Although this could benefit from being broken up into different sentences since it is kind of long?

Composition and lyrics

[edit]
  • Is the spelling "Ghandi" intentional? Otherwise good!

Release and promotion

[edit]
  • Was the West segment part of An Audience with...? If so the wikilink could be benefitial
  • "at the New World Stages in Manhattan, New York on August 28, 2007" - add comma after "New York"

Reception

[edit]
  • Maybe consider doing an efn note about which specific critics considered the song a highlight, like this for example
  •  Comment: Since comments are ranging from simply being a highlight to often things like the best track and one of the songs with a certain aspect like the "timeless hip hop feeling", I don't think a note is suitable to summarize here. --K. Peake 17:11, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Feels unnecessary to say that the certification was achieved "despite a lack of commercial success", since the fact that it was certified seems to contradict this.

Lawsuit

[edit]
  • Good

Legacy

[edit]
  • "favorite", not "favourite", since West is American
  • "not having let go "the lessons Kanye taught on his genre-blending third album"" - maybe "learn" instead of "go"?
  • "his frustrated yet aspiration life" - "aspirational" instead of "aspiration"
  • "cited West admission on the song" - "West's" instead of "West"

Credits and personnel

[edit]
  • Add "is" between "information" and "taken" to make it a full sentence since a period is used.

Certifications

[edit]
  • Good

References

[edit]
  • Looks good. I am assuming the citation style is linking publications in only the first reference that mentions them?
