Editing Esmee Fairbairn Foundation's page

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

1. "The charity gives £20–40 million annually in grants or investments towards conservation work, community energy projects, national parks and biodiversity work."

2. "Trustees include Sir Jonathan Phillips (chair, from 2019), Tom Chandos, Joe Docherty, John Fairbairn, Beatrice Hollond, Thomas Hughes-Hallett, Kate Lampard, William Sieghart, Eleanor Updale and Edward Bonham-Carter.[10] Past chairs were Jeremy Hardie from 2003 to 2007,[3]: 7 Tom Chandos and then James Hughes-Hallett until 2019."

  • Why it should be changed:

1. It is outdated information, this is more accurate: "The Foundation gives £40–50 million annually in grant funding to organisations focused on the environment, social justice, and community-led change in places. They also provide social and impact investments for organisations with the aim of creating a positive social and environmental impact."

2. It is outdated and incorrect information, this is correct: "Trustees include Beatrice Hollond (Chair, from 2022), Professor Claire Alexander, Edward Bonham Carter, Joe Docherty, John Fairbairn, Professor David Hill CBE, Elspeth Jones, Dame Clare Moriarty, Gautham Radhakrishnan, Mary Ann Sieghart, Eleanor Updale, and Dr Wanda Wyporska. Previous trustees include Sir Jonathan Phillips (Chair, until 2022), Tom Chandos, Thomas Hughes-Hallett, Kate Lampard, and William Sieghart."

Remove the line below as outdated and incorrect:

“It now focuses on areas where other funders are unlikely to be available. This includes novel and more risky projects. It may provide core funding and loans rather than grants. The foundation also initiates some projects such as "Rethinking Crime & Punishment" in 2002–2005.[3]: 9 ”

Edit:

“In 2020, as a response to structural inequality, climate change and COVID-19, the charity changed its strategy to providing longer-term support to predetermined areas in line with their mission. The objective was to ensure it achieved as much as it could with its resources and access, in particular collaborating with other like-minded organisations.[9]

They also work with partners across different sectors including charities and social enterprises, investors, government, regulators, and academia to develop new funds or approaches to funding.
