Not a forum
[edit]first of all how can any one call Eric Crouch a bust?First of all everyone knew he wasn't a legitimate NFL quarterback!he had no arm strength,no accuracy and no clue how to read defenses for the pass.plus he was only a 3rd pick with no position, the rams got what they deserved, especially after trying to make him a wide receiver. He was a great college player in a powerfull system that fit his talents and he hid what was wrong at nebraska after he left.....he was the offense.Bust? No a bad decision on the rams part.No other team would have chosen him that high he would have went in the 6th round or undrafted free agent as a running back or returner.
- The NFL doesnt give short quarterbacks a chance just look at Doug Flutie.--J3wishVulcan 13:14, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- That may have been the case in the 1980s when Flutie played college ball, but the game's changed a lot since then. The idea that the NFL doesn't give "short" quarterbacks a chance is a myth. New Orleans' starting QB Drew Brees is 6 feet tall, the same height as Eric Crouch, Jacksonsville's starting QB David Garrard is 6 foot 1 inch, and QB Mark Brunell who was a starter for most of his career is 6 foot 1 inch tall also. Crouch most likely didn't impress the prospective teams at the NFL combine in his physical performance or interviews enough to have them pursue drafting him as a QB, plain and simple. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.13.167.252 (talk) 17:34, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Disdain
[edit]"Crouch created a controversy at the University of Nebraska when he threatened to quit the team if not made the starting quarterback over Bobby Newcombe. As a result, many Nebraska fans view him with disdain."
Is there a source for this? My recollection is that Crouch CONSIDERED (not threatened) quitting the team because he was disappointing that he could not win the starting QB job. I also don't believe that "many Nebraska fans view him with disdain."
He didnt create any controversy that wasn't already there to begin with. Bobby Newcombe was chosen the starter when it was clear to everyone that it should be Eric. As we saw later in the season Eric was the obvious shoice for the position so he had reason to be upset. I dont see Bobby Newcombe's name in the record books.
College Career
[edit]Why is there so little information about his illustrious college career? Someone please write about it. WIZARD826 20:21, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, he DID win the Heisman for Chrissakes! Sundevilesq 15:55, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Noteworthy?
[edit]"Crouch later received unwanted publicity on TV broadcasts, most notably on ESPN's talk show Pardon the Interruption, where he was criticized by hosts Mike Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser for not wearing a jacket and tie to Matt Leinart's 2004 Heisman trophy award ceremony."
I didn't see this but I'll bet it was an offhand comment by the PTI guys. Not sure it's noteworthy enough to permanently 0tag Eric with it in his encyclopedia entry. Also, this makes it sound like it is the foremost of a whole body of on-air criticisms of the guy about his jacket and tie; I doubt that. Suggest deleting this entire sentence.
