Selectman -> selectmen?

[edit]

The article uses the singular term rather than the plural. Massachusetts towns generally have a board of three or five selectmen. They cannot transact the town's business individually, but only as a result of a vote in a Selectmen's Meeting. I intend to change the article to use the plural term in all places. I was unable to find either the singular or the plural in my viewing of the listed references, but I do notice that Barnstable now appears to have a Town Council instead of a Board of Selectmen. Does anyone know why the singular was used? Snezzy (talk) 02:53, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
