Professional work?
[edit]It's sad that I can find no record of his actual work in Physics (such as his dissertation topic and his contributions to his field). Any physicist would argue that his work is one of his (if not the) most important accomplishments. Can anyone find and add this information please? 75.25.141.16 (talk) 23:47, 21 August 2011 (UTC)AJ
Racial descriptions

I made a few edits to the article, particularly in passages where Bouchet is referred to as "a black," a description that robs him of personhood. Also, I changed the wording "due to his race" to "due to racial discrimination," because the latter makes clear that the discrimination he faced was done to him by other people, not by his race. These are important distinctions when we're talking about racism.--Pinko1977 20:10, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize for that, I absolutely meant no offense in writing it. Staxringold 23:22, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

A Better Understanding
[edit]Having been such an accomplished physicist it’s a wonder why his work has not been detailed to the public. Being one of the first twenty individuals to receive a degree in physics in the United States alone, Edward Bouchet undoubtedly deserves a much more robust account than what has been depicted. It’s a wonder why such an influential man to all, not only to those in physics, has been cut short most likely do to his race. I propose that “we” make these corrections and compile the data and works of this man to show and enlighten the public of the contributions as well of the triumph that Dr. Bouchet accomplished as an early physicist. Although Yale University has recently founded the Edward A. Bouchet Honor Society in his name, I believe his notoriety to be more important not only for African Americans and minorities alike, but for history to reflect the true accounts that have helped to build the foundation to which we grow from today. No man or women’s history should be taken away from them, facts and accomplishments are what gives the people hope in times of uncertainty. Something I believe can be an inspiration to all.
What proposals or insights do you have as a reader/researcher after encountering Dr. Bouchet’s Wiki page? Does it seem odd to you the limited amount of information for such a pioneer? Is there an underlined theme that seems to under represent minority accomplishments throughout history? Such question whether liked or disliked at least provoke thought, which has never been a bad thing.
Although I do appreciate the ease and reliability of Wikipedia, one should definitely find alternative sources when looking for concrete evidence and answers. I, like many others use Wikipedia as one of many tools when conducting research on a subject to quickly get an over view of the content and or external links which may guide me to more accurate information. Even though there are biases present in Wikipedia, there are also biases everywhere we look. So as with everything you must not be quick to believe everything you see and if interested in subject or individual, get involved by applying a variety of sources to establish a bases for defining what is accurate and what may seem far fetched.
