Needs refs
[edit]Each person listed should have a reference link. Without that, they should be removed. Dicklyon 20:47, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
But why?
[edit]But why do we have this article anyway? Is there something about York that makes it special for early photography? Are there relevant sources on this? Dicklyon 20:48, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
The cited ref, which I now have, says, of their comparison photos, "These include the work of photographers with a national reputation like Fox Talbot and Roger Fenton and others, like William Pumphrey and George Fowler Jones, known only locally." This only supports the fact that these guys made some early photos of York, not that York was an important center of photography or that these guys were notable. The latter two remain obscure, and there's damn little to connect the former two to York; just this one comment. I don't see anything in the article worth saving; anyone?
