Question
Why is this page protected? This is supposed to be "The Free Encyclopedia" not the Unfree Encyclopedia. The person who putted this page on protection is a disgrace to Wikipedia. The protection policies ruins the magic of Wikipedia and the protection policies are a con of pros and cons of Wikipedia in my book. Shkarter1985 (talk) 21:29, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Drake is possibly signed to Atlantic Records.
DRAKE'S MUSIC IS NOT POP =
According to Drake's official Facebook Fan page, he has been signed to "ATF Records" and "Atlantic Records".
http://www.facebook.com/pages/DRAKE/17601400098
The GSX Music Blog has also reported this:
"Word from an insider is that Drizzy ass Rogers has signed a deal with Atlantic Records by way of his own label ATF Records."
http://gsxmusic.blogspot.com/2009/05/drake-signed-to-atlantic-records.html
"Contrary to rumors, Drake has confirmed that he is not signed to Young Money or any record label [9]."
The 9th source article on that page had been written in February. The quote in question also stated, "I'm not with either of those. I'm finishing up the deal tonight or tomorrow."
It's also important to note that the Wikipedia article for Atlantic Records has already listed Drake as an artist under its Current Artists page.
I can't completely confirm the signing to Atlantic but hopefully all of this activity will iron out in due time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TheNinthCut (talk • contribs) 20:23, 31 May 2009

Name of article
Look over at the history of both this article and Aubrey Graham, there doesn't seem to consensus to name the article Drake (entertainer). I did see a discussion about the fact that there were two articles of this same person, but one was just merged to the other. Consider Graham's career has predominately been acting, I'm pretty sure he is best known as Aubrey Graham. Should the article not be named that? Feedback would be appreciated. — Σxplicit 19:59, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think Drake (entertainer) is fine, because he's becoming more prominent as a rapper, and most media outlets are going by this name. But you have a good argument, because he goes by Aubrey Graham as an actor, and he was best known by that name, when he was on Degrassi. Having "entertainer" tagged beside his name also helps, because it shows that he's more than just an actor. Blackjays1 (talk) 06:12, 9 June 2009 (UTC)CHECK ME OUT ACKTUP
- Even if he was better known as Aubrey Graham, he currently goes by Drake. For example, rapper Game is more commonly known as "The Game", but the article name has been changed because he now goes by just "Game". Since he goes by Drake as a mononym, this shpuld be the name of the article. --C43S4R (talk) 18:24, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Per WP:NCCN, Except where other accepted Wikipedia naming conventions give a different indication, title an article using the most common name of the person or thing that is the subject of the article. I think I can argue that he is prominently known as Aubrey Graham, as opposed to Drake. According to this article, he began his music career in 2006, but started his acting career in 2001; it seems that Aubrey Graham is the most common, while Drake recently gained a spike of popularity. — Σxplicit 23:11, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Conventionally, Drake would be called 'black'. He is not black in the South African sense but he is black in the Anglo-American sense. Nicander (talk) 13:34, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
Aubrey Drake Graham is Jewish and is also Black and is also White. He is Jewish by religion. While Jewish is also an ethnicity, we don't have evidence of his mother's Jewish ethnicity, only that she is Jewish by religion. Aubrey Drake Graham is also Jewish by religion and possibly of half-Jewish ethnicity. He also has Black ethnicity. So he's of mixed ethnicity, but is of Jewish faith, as he has self-proclaimed. According to Israel's laws, he can claim Jewish status and "return" to Israel as a citizen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.163.255.2 (talk) 16:04, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Drake isn't both black and white; that would involve a contradiction. He is black, and not white; because an ounce of black blood makes him black. Nicander (talk) 21:32, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Please be very careful to confine any discussions of race to specific aspects of this article. Comments here should focus especially on published reliable sources, and not rely on personal preferences or beliefs of the editors here about how the subject looks or how racial categories are defined. I would also suggest that the topic is not so important that we need to debate it very long; if we can't figure it out pretty quickly, and few reliable sources are available to help us, we should drop the matter and say nothing. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 21:49, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
on TV he refers to himself as mixed race, (on Strombo) ie both. The one drop rule is American, and should not be applied to people from outside the US for whom this isn't the understanding of race, or how they define themselves. In the Canadian census we can tick multiple boxes of racial/cultural origin, and people usually do. Really, people should be able to define themselves, and he has, so let's go with that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.183.57.148 (talk) 20:50, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

page name
context: This page was moved from "Aubrey Graham" to "Aubrey "Drake" Graham", and I have moved it back.
I almost agree that this page needs to be renamed, however "Aubrey "Drake" Graham" isn't a good pagename.
Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(people)#Nicknames, pen names, stage names, cognomens is the relevant guideline.
He is better known as just "Drake", but that means we should rename this page to "Drake (entertainer)", as Drake is already taken. John Vandenberg (chat) 11:12, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Wikipedia's naming policy for subjects who are well-known by mononyms is to refer to them by their legal name if they use that as well in their professional careers (see Beyoncé Knowles). Graham uses his legal name in his acting career and "Drake" is purely musical as far as I know. –Chase (talk) 02:54, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
- The Wikipedia policy has also stated that the most common name is used. If you walk up to someone today and say do you know who Aubrey Graham is? They won't know until you say "Oh that's Drake". I vote move to Drake (entertainer) based on that is the most common name currently. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 05:23, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
- We use consensus, not voting. Common name does apply, but professionally he is known by both names. Musically he uses the mononym, in his acting career he uses his legal name. And thus, according to relevant policy, we should use his legal name. –Chase (talk) 00:22, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

It should be Drake (entertainer) per SE KinG. If someone is looking for Drake's page on Wikipedia they won't be serching Aubrey Graham they would search Drake which would lead them here. STAT -Verse 03:10, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- As far as I know, Graham still uses his legal name in his acting career. Drake has not been the only name he has used professionally. –Chase (talk) 07:28, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
For your information, Beyoncé does not use her middle name as her stage name. I agree with STATicVerseatide. Drake (entertainer) is a better name for this article. He's prominently credited as rapper now. His discography page is also becoming more important than his filmography. HipHopStan —Preceding undated comment added 23:57, 8 June 2010 (UTC).
- Does it matter which part of his name he chooses to use? Wikipedia policy says to use the legal name if the person in question uses said legal name professionally. Graham indeed has and I believe still does. Wiki users are not in a position to judge which aspect of one's career is more "important". –Chase (talk) 02:54, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
According to the consensus, most people here support Drake (entertainer). See, Rihanna uses her middle as a stage name and the article does direct to her birth name. I'm many entertainers who act get credited as their stage name. HipHopStan 20:33, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- I think part of the issue should be apart from Degrasi how big have his roles been. Looking at IMDB most of his acting resume since leaving Degrasi has been one episode stints. I think nowadays his music career is bigger than his acting career, case in point: no one nowadays says "Oh remember Aubrey Grahm From Degrasi" instead they say "Hey remember when Drake was on Degrasi" --Deathawk (talk) 12:51, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- Wikipedia policy says otherwise. If a mononymous person also uses their legal name professionally, we are to use the legal name. Consensus is built upon merit of arguments based on Wiki policies and guidelines, not majority formed on personal preference and (without sounding too bad-faith) bias to one's music career. Rihanna is different because she does not use her legal name professionally. I remember a movie role she did a few years back where she was credited by
that nameher middle/stage name.
The stage name "Drake" has only been used by the media for about a year or two now. And it appears to be purely musical. He acts using his legal name. Of course, if this changes and he begins to go only by Drake, that would be different. –Chase (talk) 17:33, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

I also support Drake (entertainer). He is much better known by Drake these days. Just because he has used his full name professionally, he is much better known by Drake. For example, 50 Cent goes by "Curtis Jackson" in films but 50 Cent in music. Even though he goes professionally by his legal name, the page is named 50 Cent because he is better known as this. This case is directly relate-able to this page and someone should change the name immediately, especially now that his latest project, Thank me Later, is out and bears the name Drake. C43S4R (talk) 00:57, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- See WP:OSE. This discussion is not about the 50 Cent article. Yes, it is well-established that Drake is his musical stage name and thus his album will bear the mononym. However, his musical career has only been notable for about a year. It's too early to determine which name is more common, especially since he has acted under his legal name since 2001. I think we can come back to this discussion in about a year or two, when it should be better established which name is more common. –Chase (talk) 01:31, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- Also, 50 Cent is a different matter entirely. He has been well-known by his stage name for quite awhile now and only occasionally uses his legal name. That is a much clearer example of WP:COMMONNAME. –Chase (talk) 01:34, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

- WP:SURNAME refers to subsequent use of names in an article, not article titles as I previously thought. Is there any confirmation that this is actually happening? I request that you put that "Drake" was married to Nikki Minaj. Source is the 2010 VMA's. The pre-show had "Drake" as a guest and that was a conversation topic. Also in "Music Career" You have "Jeezy" instead of "Young Jeezy". I understand that its known who "Jeezy" is but a lot of younger users can be confused. Thank You for viewing my edit requests. Drake should be described as "Jewish Canadian"
In the opening line, "Aubrey Drake Graham (born October 24, 1986), who records under the mononym Drake, is a Canadian" we should add "Jewish" before "Canadian."
The allows for greater specificity as to the culture/community Graham grew up in and come from. Drake has self-identified as being of Jewish faith, and he grew up in a Toronto community among many other Jewish friends. He also went to a Jewish school for a short period. I would think it gives greater insight into who Graham is, as a person, rather than purely the public persona that surrounds him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.163.255.2 (talk) 16:09, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- I strongly disagree, as his religion is hardly what identifies him or his origin. "Jewish Canadian" is a mish-mash of religious and national info, and besides, we don't do this for other BLPs or WP bios. By the reasoning above we could change Lady Gaga to "is a Catholic American recording artist" or similar. No, violates WP:UNDUE. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 20:27, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Drake's middle name is not 'Drake' however 'Clark' as quoted on the billboard.com website. In the article 125 Pop Stars' Real Names (January 28, 2011 11:00 EST), he is listed as Aubrey Clark Graham.

I'm working hard to find it but I am almost certain he said his middle name is in fact Drake from when he use to be on Degrassi. In this video go about 7.18 in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0xW_qqyn2Y&feature=related I don't know where the heck Clark came from but it was clearly a mistake and I think more resources should have been dug up before officially changing it.
I bet he feels pretty dumb now. This just goes to show how stupid and ignorant the people of wikipedia is I mean come on they won't take news coming from the artist it self as "reliable source" this is why wikipedia is not trusted.
Where did the Billboard "article" get 'Clark' from?
His official site still lists his middle name as 'Drake':
http://www.drakeofficial.com/biography/
Same thing for his Myspace profile:
http://www.myspace.com/thisisdrake
The only things I find on 'Clark' are traced back to either Wikipedia (which uses the Billboard article as its only source) or that ONE Billboard article, which is actually more of a list than an actual article, and doesn't even mention or cite where it sourced that or the other names from.
Does anyone want to point out where he's stated that's his actual name before editing the article to indicate that it is?

In the section, 2010–present: Thank Me Later and Take Care, can you please change the part where it says, "On May 20th, Drake leaked a song from Take Care named "Money Can Buy Dreams" produced by 40". Can you please change it to, "On May 20th, Drake leaked a song from Take Care named "Dreams Money Can Buy" produced by 40". This should be done because "Dreams Money Can Buy" is the reall title of the track, where as "Money Can Buy Dreams" is not. Thank you very much and I hope you can change it. Drake was a product that was developed and marketed
He was developed, marketed and market styled just the same same way as Justin Bieber was, but for a very mainstream pop audience that is now accustomed to hip hop. Both of these people came to the MARKET FULLY DEVELOPED. So one would have ever seen them in a small club or entertainment place like "normal" entertainers or a "rock band/ group". He never gets the flack that Bieber gets because hip hop is supposedly more real or authentic. He went from Degrassi to fully formed hip hop entertainer within 2 years.Starbwoy (talk) 18:35, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? Drake was an independent artist for many years, performing in Toronto. He released three mixtapes on his own record label, the last of which was nominated for a Grammy. His only main collaborator during these years was his long-time friend Noah "40". So who exactly "developed, marketed and market styled" Drake? Did Simon Cowell conduct a secret operation to make him a famous rapper? Did Dr. Dre secretly produce his songs? Did Kanye secretly write his lyrics? --ChinaTwist (talk) 20:25, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
Discography section
There is no guideline that says we must exclude If You're Reading This It's Too Late because it is a mixtape (a fact that many dispute, but isn't relevant here). The relevant guideline says "The discography section of the musician's primary article should also provide a summary of the musician's major works." Can anyone honestly say an album that topped the charts in both the U.S. and Canada doesn't qualify as a "major work?" If this were a traditional mixtape like Sorry 4 the Wait (i.e. not commercially released) I could see why it should be excluded. But this is a different case entirely. - "Live and compilation albums, EPs, singles, etc. should generally not be included." I would assume that would also include mixtapes. And, do I need to note Drake calls it a mixtape as well? And if you look on the talk page of the mixtape, most say mixtape. How is a throwaway meant purely to complete his contract (yet was successful) with his label a major work? I think not. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 01:37, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Except it doesn't say mixtape. And again, an album that debuted at number one in the U.S. and Canada is a "major work" by any reasonable definition. Calidum T|C 01:40, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- How would a mixtape be more relevant than an EP or Single? Especially since singles sell more. (since charting is your reasoning) I can say the same for, say Justin Bieber's Believe Acoustic since it achieved the same feat as Drake's. Is it included? No. Studio albums are the only material typically included here. -- Joseph Prasad (talk) 01:44, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

- Then I guess all his first mixtapes should be included. Sources say he's preparing a real album. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 20:53, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
mlubisic--- Drakes album "If you are reading this it's too late" should be included in discography because it was sold like an album. The Rolling stone stated it was an album and treated it like an album on its charts. This is also the same with billboard. Drake released a mixtape in 2009 and it is still in his discography. Under this logic, his 2015 mixtape should also be included. Furthermore, Drake just released a collaborative album with future that should also be included in Discography. Although it was a collaborative album, Drake still takes credit for the album on the charts and on itunes. Through not including the works like "If you are reading this it's too late" and "What a time to be alive" in discography, you are not showing Drake's entire successful body of work to the Wikipedia Readers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mlubisic (talk • contribs) 03:29, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
Edit Suggestion: New pic?
The current pic for Drake is very dated, as it is from 2010 and does not represent his current look and aesthetic. I think this picture would be perfect: Http://static.stereogum.com/uploads/2015/04/coachella15-drake.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cclateman (talk • contribs) 06:34, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

The latest addition to the file, where he was"successfully exposed" is not true at all. He has only been accused and there has been no proof. This is false information and rather misleading. 69.123.62.121 (talk) 15:35, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
