Possible Plot Clues

[edit]

What sort of references and sources would be required to include a small section on the possible inclusion of minor plot hints for the actual TV series? There have been a few included in the game, the most significant that I can remember was the reference to 'The Big Bang'. There have been other small ones that are possibles but unconfirmed (in the sense that, they haven't been shown in the series yet). Is this too 'theory' to be included in the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.222.237.62 (talk) 21:03, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Free to download everywhere? Or restricted to United Kingdom?

[edit]

One thing that would be nice for this article: Is the game to be released to other parts of the world (the BBC has an endearing [read: annoying] habit of restricting all but the most basic goodies on their websites to subjects of Her Britannic Majesty [read: licence fee payers to the BBC]), and will it still be free to download if and when it is released to world beyond the UK? Pat Payne (talk) 18:29, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's definitely worth checking. In general BBC Worldwide handles overseas distribution of all material so I would expect the Corporation's own website to only hand out goodies to the locals unless they state otherwise. Tasty monster (=TS ) 19:57, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just realized that no one has linked to a place where people can obtain these. The BBC Doctor Who website specifically links non-UK players to Direct2Drive which apparently is the official distributor of the game. The link is here, although you can choose to buy them separately if preferable: http://www.direct2drive.com/9784/product/Buy-Doctor-Who:-The-Adventure-Games---Episode-1---4-Complete-Bundle-Download --68.111.242.170 (talk) 11:40, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Aftermath

[edit]

Is downloading the only way to get this. You know how Attack of the Graske was a red button-only but was then released onto the Website. Will a similar thing happen to the adventure games? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.83.125.225 (talk) 09:10, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Download. This will be an episodic video game. Exactly that of like Tales of Monkey Island. This is really nothing like Attack of the Graske as that was a broadcasted interactive episode and these are episodic adventure video games. --Victory93 (talk) 12:17, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think he means will downloading be the Only way to get this. Attack of the Graske has been put up on the Website after when it was first put up on BBCi (Red button). Speaking myself, i don't like to download, so i hope there is another way sometime after that the Adventure games can be played, although i strongly doubt it. --77.99.231.37 (talk) 14:32, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy over restrictions

[edit]

There's been enough media and blog coverage now of the controversy over the fact the games are available for free only in the UK to justify a section, I think. In particular, media coverage over the high demand for illegal downloads of the game, many of which are infected with malware. It's likely to get worse if the international retail release a) doesn't happen (Destiny of the Doctors was supposed to get an international release too and it didn't happen), or b) costs more than a buck or two. On June 22 the BBC is supposed to host a media event to launch the second game. There's potential that they may address the issue during the Q&A. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 17:24, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It can be included in you can find reliable sources that mention it, that generally excludes blogs. As you seem to have a personal stake in all this, please careful to stick to a neutral point of view. Maccy69 (talk) 09:19, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blood of the Cybermen

[edit]

Can we not add a plot heading and an image for this until the game is released on June 26th? As it stands, there's really nothing to say beyond what the episode table says and effectively no text for an image to go with. Any incoming links pointing to Doctor Who: The Adventure Games#Blood of the Cybermen will currently end up at the top of the article, which is fine. Once there is a plot summary and a heading, they will end up there, which is also fine. Maccy69 (talk) 09:32, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 4

[edit]

We don't technically know that Episode 4 runs on from Episode 3, or has it been confirmed? cos then it may not be after the Great Flood. It is most likely though 84.93.137.48 (talk) 17:33, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline Placement

[edit]

I haven't found any information on when these episodes take place in Season 5, or are they considered non-canon? I remember Attack of the Graske was given a timeline location, so I was curious if any information had surfaced on that. I mean it's the sort of thing you'd expect to find in this article.--Dakmordian (talk) 00:35, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

After having played through all three, I'd hazard that it's either set before they picked up Rory (which is unlikely as that series of events followed a continuous story-arc) or after his death and erasure from history. The way Amy's dressed doesn't help much cause she's basically worn the same thing in almost every episode save a few. In fact, considering that the Doctor seemed to take Amy on a series of trips between "Cold Blood" and "The Pandorica Opens" that weren't shown (evidence is in "Big Bang" when we see Amy/the Doctor in the midst of some vacation), it's most likely set around here.--68.111.242.170 (talk) 11:28, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Difficulty

[edit]

Episode 1 was significantly harder than the other two episodes. The Daleks not only fired almost the moment they saw you, but there were several spots where you encountered large numbers of enemies to avoid. Meanwhile, there were hardly any Cybermen/Cyberslaves, and no enemies at all, really, in episode 3. I'd need to find some sources (which I'm not good at), but I'd wager that it played a factor in how they were developed.--68.111.242.170 (talk) 11:34, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seperate pages?

[edit]

I recommend having separate pages for each of the games. I would create them myself but I can't for two reasons.

  • 1 - I've been told that I'm not good at creating articles. Pretty much all of the articles that I create get deleted because I'm not good at discovering sources.
  • 2 - I live in Australia and it costs money to play the games so I can't write the plots. I don't want to buy them, either (if that's what you're wondering).

Thanks, Rhain1999 (talk) 06:04, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re 1 - article writing you will get better at, you sound like you've been unfortunate in choice of subject. 2 - detailed plots aren't necessary to the article and the games need to be addressed out-of-universe ideally (here's some advice Wikipedia:How to write a plot summary on summarising plots ). New Distributor?

[edit]

I discovered a DVD-ROM of all five games at a Walmart tonight. It carries a 2015 copyright to Legacy Games, and their own website confirms you can get all five for PC only (you can view the pricing on their site): [1] --JohnDBuell (talk) 03:21, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

They are also available on Steam --Thomcat (talk) 04:19, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
