Insufficient information about the studies on the mechanisms of the enzyme

Most of the information in the article is not from recent research papers, particularly the mechanism section

@Nhattrongdo, Bekidl, and Yinfj16: Most of the information should NOT come from research papers. Per WP:PSTS, secondary sources (i.e., review articles) are strongly preferred. The reason for this is an astonishing high percentage of primary research cannot be repeated. Second, the notability of a results in a primary source is questionable. Much better to clte recent independent review articles in which the results are summarized and compared with other primary literature. This increases both the reliability and notability of the conclusions. There are tons of recent reviews on this enzyme, so there is no excuse not to use these sources. Finally this article is about an enzyme, not research about the enzyme. Wikipedia articles should simply state facts. Boghog (talk) 09:01, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested correction to the article

The article seems to interpret the reference incorrectly where it claims that " ... and severe cerebral folate deficiency which can be corrected by folinic acid supplementation." The referenced article [1] states that: "Cerebral BH4 deficiency was noted in the proband. It was not corrected by folinic acid and could explain some of the residual neurological symptoms. The absence of hyperphenylalaninemia in our patients indicates that BH4 deficiency was primarily cerebral and was not due to any of the known causes of systemic BH4 deficiency. BH4 is a cofactor for phenylalanine-4-hydroxylase, tyrosine-3-hydroxylase, and tryptophan-5-hydroxylase, and it is required for the production of monoamines, including dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine.20 Of note, in the proband, CSF homovanillic acid (a major catecholamine metabolite) and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (a serotonin metabolite) levels were slightly low and remained in the low-normal range after folinic acid treatment. 5-MTHF prevents peroxynitrite-induced BH4 oxidation in blood vessels.
