[edit]"Despite the divorce, he continued to send Lucy flowers every year on their wedding anniversary, which was Nov. 30th. [June 19 was the date they were married in a church]. After their divorce, Lucille got into a nasty accident while making a film with Bob Hope. When Arnaz heard, he rode by horse from his ranch to the hospital to make sure that Ball was going to be okay. This should be an example of the love that Arnaz and Ball still shared."
Ya know, I would love to read one article in Wikipedia that held to the "NPOV" standards that wikipedia supposedly holds so high. Wikipedia is filled with communists/globalists. It's a propaganda arm for the CIA/NSA/DIA/CIC.
And no I have no interest in writing this article myself. There are plenty of people wo have devoted huge chunks of time to this stuff already.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.96.18.5 (talk) 16:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- easily fixed by removal of a few words. Ortolan88 18:49, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
I've removed the comment about Desi catching Lucy making out with another woman. It was unsourced, and in a situation like this, I think it should be removed until a citation can be found, if it even exists. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Giovanni539 (talk • contribs) 21:56, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
I support the removal of the comment as unsourced, but that is not what it said. Wanderer57 (talk) 04:47, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I've heard Desi was a drinker, but never that he used any drugs as is stated in the article, but unsourced.I'm removing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.127.191.14 (talk) 16:51, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- As the tag says, the article is totally unsourced. If the unsourced statements are removed, the article has no words in it. Wanderer57 (talk) 17:04, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Is this really true?
[edit]"He died several months later on December 2, 1986, at age 69. Two days before, on what would have been his 46th anniversary to Lucille,(November 30) she telephoned him. They shared a few words, mostly 'I love you's. She said "Alright, honey. I'll talk to you later." She was, in fact, the last person to ever speak with Desi Arnaz."
According to this, he was totally alone for the last two days of his life. Does the reference really say this? Wanderer57 (talk) 03:42, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
He wasn't alone, he lapsed into a coma. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.253.108.89 (talk) 04:23, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
The source of the phone call story was Lucie Arnaz, who was present at her father's bedside when her mother called, and Lucie held the receiver to ailing Desi's ear while Lucy spoke to him. It was on Nov. 30, 1986, the date of their 46th wedding anniversary. Lucie recounted the conversation for Tom Gilbert, co-author of "Desilu: The Story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz," the book in which this story appeared for the first time. The phone call came two days before Desi's death, and he lapsed into a coma shortly thereafter. Lucie was with her father when he died, so he was not alone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.203.130.22 (talk) 22:54, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Ceasar Romero?
[edit]Why isn't Ceasar Romero mentioned in the article? Romero mentioned in a circa 1990 interview that he and Arnaz had had oral sex, I think sometime in the last few years of Desi's marriage to Lucy. I'm not kidding. --24.21.149.124 (talk) 05:14, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- It's really almost unbelievable that there exists anyone who would really care who reportedly had sex (oral or otherwise) with whom 22 years after their death.BrianAlex (talk) 22:11, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Desi Arnaz was bisexual and this should be mentioned in the article or he should be added to that category. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.175.70.85 (talk) 05:55, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Arnaz's alleged sexual relationship with Romero is reported in only one place: Boze Hadleigh's 1996 book "Hollywood Gays". Hadleigh has proved to be a highly unreliable source, with numerous fabricated stories in his various publications. See "disputable claims" http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Boze_Hadleigh

[edit]Is it possible to use the image from the Ricky Ricardo page for Desi's? Not sure whether Fair Use is cool with that.86.25.144.171 (talk) 16:26, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Madeline Jane???
[edit]This whole story is extremely disputed, the chances are very slim that this happened. Unless there is concrete proof that this Madeline person is the biological daughter (which is being disputed, since it's knowledge that Lucille Ball had miscarriages and were trying to have a baby for like 10 years), I'm removing that. Splent (talk) 03:09, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
I concur with your decision to remove said references. While Cassandria Carlson and her family continue to edit and revert Wikipedia articles claiming biological descent from Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, verifiable references and citations from reputable sources have not been presented. Accordingly, Wikipedia Terms of Use require removal. The Arnaz family refutes these claims in their entirety. These claims are also made on the pages of other Arnaz family members. If these revisions continue, asserting that Madeline is the daughter of Ball and Arnaz, I suggest escalating this issue. Cindamuse (talk) 02:53, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
69.47.156.157 (talk)Again, the "Lucy" fans need to stop confusing Lucy Ricardo with Lucy Ball. Lucie and Desi Jr. have NEVER publicly disputed this fact, which they never will. Show us where they have?~~ The woman is doing business as Another Desilu and has been since 2008 and that's a family trademark, do you not think for a second that would have been stopped? Instead, the woman carries on the legacy, raises awareness for Lucie and her shows and does work with the family all in the name of Arnaz. it's time, everyone in the public accepts this.69.47.156.157 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:17, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
This is Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz his first grandchild Julia Arnaz. The only reason why we don't say anything about this women Cassandra Carlson pathetic another desilu Productions is because it is called Another. We are Desilu Productions, period. And anybody can say anything they want on their own social media page, we cannot stop her. She is a hundred percent not related to the Arnez or ball family never was. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.148.216.242 (talk) 16:49, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
This entire ludicrous claim is bereft of any evidence whatsoever and doesn't merit any serious discussion here. Lucille Ball desperately wanted children, was photographed continuously throughout 1946-47 and was clearly not pregnant at any point during that period, this woman's mother's birth certificate indicates her biological mother and it's not Lucy. The entire thing is insane and again does not merit discussion. This gives rise to the odd, suspicious posts like the two ones above - One that sounds as if either this Carlson wrote it herself or someone wanted us to think that was the case or the post that follows where someone claims to be an Arnaz grandchild and using poor grammar, multiple spelling errors, and syntax, disparages Carlson. To top it off the alleged "Julie Arnaz" actually, misspells the name 'Anraz' as 'Arnez' at the end of the paragraph. Discussions of this sort have no place here as the entire page come across as a conspiracy theory page populated by the intellectually challenged. We don't need to be wasting time (like I am now) discussing cranks. The original poster could have done his/her research on this crazy woman and then concluded that this does not merit real attention. Cassandra Carlson is no more Lucy and Desi's granddaughter than I am the child of Buddy Holly and Marilyn Monroe.
Bacardi connection
[edit]The article says "His maternal grandfather was Alberto de Acha, one of the three founders of Bacardi Rum."
The Bacardi article makes no mention of this, or anyone who might have been him, though it was founded in Santiago de Cuba.
Also, given that his mother was born in 1896, his maternal grandfather would have likely been born after 1866, 4 years after Bacardi was founded.
Source, anyone? —[AlanM1(talk)]— 09:17, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- The sentence is taken from Desi Arnaz' autobiography, "A Book," page 12. It really depends on what Desi Arnaz means by "one of the founders," so I agree with putting this on hold until we have better sourcing, though I did cite "A Book" by Desi Arnaz as the reference for his maternal grandfather's name being Alberto de Acha.
- The Barcardi family bought their first distillery in 1862. Their sales offices were opened in Havana in the 1890s. In 1910 they became a multi-national company; it is at this point that they probably became "Barcardi Limited." By "one of the founders" Arnaz may be referring to any of these 3 points in Barcardi's history. But since we don't know, I've written to Barcardi Ltd. and asked. Hopefully they will verify at what (if any) point Alberto de Acha was involved in their history. History Lunatic (talk) 15:39, 24 January 2013 (UTC)History Lunatic
Band leader?
[edit]This line currently appears in the film career section of the article.
- "Arnaz co-starred in the premiere of I Love Lucy, in which he played a fictitious version of himself, Cuban orchestra leader Enrique "Ricky" Ricardo."
However, no mention is made of Arnaz' musical career, never mind that he was a band leader. (There is only a brief line that he played guitar for Xavier Cugat, but given turnover in big bands, this might have been a one-night gig, the opportunity of a lifetime, or the culmination of a lot of hard work on his part.) While I am sure I have read elsewhere that he did have his own orchestra, that's hardly a wikipedia standard for updating the article.
Consequently, the line should either be removed or someone should find some cite-able examples of his pre-film career in the music industry and include them in the article. 75.37.18.204 (talk) 19:04, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Prejudice/Discrimination
[edit]While there are probably more, and better sources, on this aspect of Desi Arnaz's life, it is worth noting that he endured significant ethnic prejudice in his life.

[edit]The "does not cite ANY references" warning was no longer true, there are references in that section, so I removed the alert box from the top of that section. Feel free to replace it with a "needs additional citations" box if someone feels this is necessary, but the "does not cite ANY references" box really is for sections void of references, which is not the case at the time of making this edit. 2A02:C7D:864B:3A00:A1B8:589A:11F9:B0E0 (talk) 16:23, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Star Trek
[edit]There was no mention in the article about Star Trek, DesiLu Production’s most famous show.
Personally I feel that Desi Arnés continues to face discrimination when his achievements are overlooked in favor of Lucille Ball. Lucy herself had praised Desi for his accomplishments.
Finally, bringing up unnecessary gossip that Arnés performed a sexual act on another Latino actor smacks of racism. Latino men of that era were very much into the machismo ethic, womanizing, drinking, sometimes having a secret family on the side). I’m not saying that homosexuality didn’t exist, but considering the times (homosexual acts were considered a crime, possible exposure and loss of social standing, stigma), how did this person know that such an act took place? It’s ugly hearsay to blemish these men, and it should be eradicated. These men are no longer alive to defend themselves. It hurts their families as well.
