Primary sources?
[edit]User:Banej added a primary sources tag on the article. I removed it. The sources quoted here are not primary sources according to WP:primary sources. They are links to the Defenxe Command website. Furthermore, considering that all information presented on this page is extremely basic information on the establishment, I don't really see this as a problem. --MPorciusCato (talk) 19:10, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- Taken from the article, Finnish Defence Command is the headquarters of the Finnish Defence Forces (http://www.puolustusvoimat.fi).
- According to WP:primary sources, Primary source ... are original materials that are close to an event, ... Any interpretation of primary source material requires a reliable secondary source for that interpretation. ♠♠ BanëJ ♠♠ (Talk) 15:46, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- You are mistaken. The examples given in the guideline show clearly that e.g. witness statements, historical documents, research reports etc. are such primary sources. For example, the history page of the defence command is a very typical secondary source. A self-interested secondary source, but the cite is proper. The personnel numbers on an organisation webpage are likewise a secondary source. A primary source would be an actual payroll or a personnel list. There is no "interpretation" of primary sources in this article. Same goes for mission statement published by the Defence Command. There is no better source for telling the opinion of the organisation about what it tells its mission to be. --MPorciusCato (talk) 19:08, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
